I mean, if I play my paladin as a melee character up to level 70, why should I be expected to change to a ranged healer for raiding? This is the main complaint of hybrids. It's not that one tree is less effective than another, it's that entire playstyles go out the window.
For example, if Holy Paladins were melee characters, you would see far less angst about Retribution Paladins, even if Retribution was not a raid-viable spec.

If I play my warrior as a DuelWield Fury/MS arms up to level 70, why should I be expected to change to protection build to Main Tanking raid bosses?
Being able to raid is a privilege, it is not a right given by blizzard.
