The 4 point strat with people in the group running straight back when doomfire is headed that way gives u as much "control" as u are gonna get. I'd add one caveat tho, usually putting one MT healer in each group and having that healer stagger himself slightly from the other 4 players can be of some help (still in tremor totem range tho obviously). Usually our MT healer only run out with the group if it is apparent they have to to avoid the doomfire. The rest of the group should all be running out together even if its clear the fire isnt on them (i.e. say the fire is chasing the lock and the other players arent in its path, doesnt matter they should be going back as well).
IF YOU ARE NOT A MT HEALER OR MELEE YOU SHOULD ALMOST NEVER EVER BE DOOMFIRED. That is the most important point I think. When I say never I mean it, ur ranged can easily avoid standing near dfires before fear goes off and saving their ways to break fear ONLY for the times when it has to be broken to avoid running through one. One easy way to check who is sucking is to use recount and find the dmg from doomfires to each player after an attempt. Even if u have a called wipe and ppl suicide in them the suiciders only recieve their max health worth of the dmg and won't stand out, the noobs taking 10s of thousands of dmg from doomfires over the course of the fight will and I'd highly suggest swapping those people out for someone who doesnt suck. When we were first attempting this fight we had an entire raid night (4 hours) of wipes, the players (excluding mt healers and melee) who were good took ~1-2 doomfires over the course of the entire night if that gives u some idea about how often ur raid members should be getting doomfired.
