I'd say half, if not more, of the raid game is preparedness and knowing the encounters, and it's tremendously difficult to find good information on trash. Your raid group will learn by beating their faces on it, but it's difficult to pre-research the information, and difficult for a new player in a raid group to learn by research.
Back in the day, I was leading a raid group that was sort of a "last gasp of vanilla WOW group", going into Naxxramas the last week before TBC was released. I did a tremendous amount of research into the encounters, but had a hell of a time finding any information about the trash - I'd say it took me seven to ten times the amount of research to find detailed information about Naxx trash pulls as it did to learn about the bosses.
Likewise for trash pulls in modern TBC instances - I can find a detailed strategy writeup for Illidan in less than two minutes, but good luck trying to find information on trash mobs without an hour of searching/reading.
