As it is, the full frontal attack works for us a lot better then the ideal approach. You should always try the "attack from behind" tactic first, but if for some reason it doesn't work, you can try it the way I described above. And maybe after a while your melee do understand what's important in phase 1 and you can go back to the "attack from behind" tactic.

I don't want to knock your strat too much, cuz how you lead your raid is your own decision; but in general, changing your strat to something 2x as dangerous to compensate for your players sucking on such a simple concept really is not a good strategy for dealing with problems. If your melee have this much a problem staying behind a mob, don't take them to Shahraz or Illidan.
