well, illumination itself counts as a spell
for example
holy lights crits for 9000 - spell
paladin receives 480 mana from illumination - spell
some items trigger on a spell, i was thinking about the insightful earthstorm diamond. That item triggers off the illumination mana return, instead of the holy light spell cast, sometimes.
this is all moot though, the notes said "divine illumination" which reduces the mana cost of all spells for like 15 seconds. It has a 2 or 3 min cooldown.
I can't understand what they're changing about this.
