You are correct that in most cases BM and MM hunters prefer a blessingline of Might > Kings > Wisdom (>) Salvation. Salvation is basically only directly good in special cases, such as multi bosses with aggrowipes or similar. Feign Dead should be more than enough to keep your head down on the threat. Naturally it can get resisted, so Feign often, Feign proactively. That way you don't have to scale back in case it gets resisted.
Oh and btw, tell your raid leader that he will get 30% less extra threat from Misdirection for no actual gain if you get Salvation. Lay it out as a risk of getting some crithappy Mage/Shaman/neighbours dog overtake him on threat early in the fight.
