The removal of Hunter pet loyalty irks me after they recently said they were happy with how Soul Shards affect gameplay. Things like Loyalty, Soul Shards, weapon skillups, reagent costs on spells like Slow Fall, Levitate, Water Walking and Water Breathing all strike me as pointless gameplay mechanics only introduced to make one thing different from another. There's no discernable purpose to having to consume a bag slot worth of light feathers just to be able to slow fall. Or have to spend 30 minutes smacking Boars outside Orgrimmar when you get a new weapon. Or have to consume bag slots with food so your pet doesn't lose his extra 25% bonus because you haven't fed him recently. Or have to spend 30 minutes farming soul shards after a romp through BGs as Destruction just to be able to use spells in PvP that are already highly restricted by enforced cooldowns, or have to halt the raid's advance to step out and kill some shite on your 15th consecutive wipe on Archimonde and various other bosses who have no trash mobs. Or having to go out into the game world and tame every type of pet in the known world just to discover what kind of abilities you can train your pet with. Or, when levelling up a Warlock, have to summon each and every pet and use those stupid Grimoires on them, blowing a bunch of soul shards in the process.
Now that they're removing Loyalty, I hope they take a look at everything else like it. None of it is fun. The only reason to hang on to these things is because they're always been there.
If anything, I hope they give Destruction a helping hand in shard farming. Like if Intensity also gave Drain Soul interrupt resist as well. Its the one spec that consumes soul shards the fastest and yet the one spec that has the most trouble gathering them solo.
