Here's my suggestions for how to fix the Mage Arcane talent tree:

T1 - Arcane Subtlety 2/2 - Increase the resistances and mana regeneration given by your Mage Armor spell by 15/30% and reduces threat of Arcane spells by 20/40%. - Thoughts?

T1 - Arcane Focus 3/3 - Increases your chance to hit with your Arcane spells by 1/2/3%, and reduces the mana cost of your Arcane spells by 2/4/6%. - Modeled after Destruction Talent, Cataclysm

T2 - Student of the Mind 2/2 - Increases your total Spirit by 5/10%, and increases your spell critical strike rating by 5/10% of your total Spirit. - Replace Wand spec. Thoughts?

T2 - Magic Absorption 3/3 - Increases all your resistances by .25/.5/.7 per level, and converts 2/4/6% of any resisted damage into mana. 1 sec. cooldown. - Change from 5 to 3 points, and change the effect to be more useful with a 10% vs the old 25% increment resist table.

T3 - Magic Attunement 2/2 - Increases the range of your Arcane Spells by 3/6 yards and the beneficial effect of your Amplify Magic and Dampen Magic spells by 25/50%. - Add the word beneficial, to make this talent positively effect amp/dampen magic.

T3 - Improved Counterspell 1/1 - Your Counterspelled targets are now silenced for 4 sec. - Replace Arcane Fortitude with this talent, and reduce to 1 point.

T4 - Improved Mana Shield 2/2 - Decreases the mana lost per point of damage taken when Mana Shield is active by 25/50%. When Mana Shield breaks, nearby enemies lose mana equal to 15/30% of what you lost. - Reduce mana lost to 1:1 for 2 points, and make it cause a mana burn like effect on breaking.

T4 - Arcane Sabotage 2/2 - Reduces the chance your Arcane spell effects can be dispelled or stolen by 15/30%. Also gives your Spellsteal an 25/50% chance to steal an extra beneficial magic effect from the target - I made this talent up to replace Improved Counterspell. I like the primary effect, but couldn't think of a good secondary one to go with it.

T4 - Arcane Meditation 3/3 - Allows 10/20/30% of your Mana regeneration to continue while casting, and reduces the fade time of your invisibility spell by 1/2/3 sec. - I think the reduced fade time for invisibility fits better with this talent than Prismatic Cloak.

T5 - Improved Blink 2/2 - Reduces the coooldown of your Blink spell by 1/2 sec, and the mana cost by 25/50%. Also for 4 sec after casting Blink, your chance to be hit by all attacks and spells is reduced by 13/25%. - Add reduced cooldown/mana cost to this talent. Numbers need to be tweaked I think.

T6 - Prismatic Cloak 2/2 - When you are hit by a spell, you have an 7/15% chance of increasing your resistance to that school of magic for 10 sec. This effect stacks up to 3 times. - Modeled on the Death Knight Frost talent, Acclimation. The amount of resistance is up in the air though. This would work well in PvP, or constant magic damage boss fights with the new Magic Absorption.

T6 - Arcane Potency 2/2 - Increase the critical strike chance of any spell cast while Clearcasting by 13/25%. - Reduce to 2 talent points. The Arcane tree is pretty heavy at this point, and I think this is a good spot to trim some fat.

T7 - Empowered Arcane 3/3 - Your Arcane Missiles spell gains an additional 15/30/45% of your bonus spell damage effects, and your Arcane Blast spell gains an additional 5/10/15% of your bonus spell damage effects. - Rename, removed downside, and add and effect for Arcane Blast. The % for arcane blast would need some heavy tweaking or a downside like 2t5.

T8 - Arcane Flows 2/2 - Reduces the cooldown of your Presence of Mind, Arcane Power and Invisibility spells by 30/60 secs. - No change here, just add the second rank that's in the official talent calculator data file.

T9 - Incanter's Prestige 3/3 - Increases spellpower by 2/4/6% when you are above 60% mana, and allows an extra 10/20/30% of your mana regeneration to continue while casting when you are below 40% mana. - Replace Incanter's absorption with this talent. I think this allows for more damage when using Abar cycles, and a little more staying power for AB spam. Note: with my suggested Arcane Subtley, Mage Armor, Arcane Meditation, and this talent you have 99% of your mana regen continuing while casting when below 40% mana.

T9 - Slow 1/1 - Reduces target's movement speed by 50%, increases the time between ranged attacks by 50% and increases casting time by 50%. Lasts 15 sec. Slow can only affect one target at a time. This is not considered a movement impairing effect. - Add the bit about not being a movement impairing effect. This would allow us to keep druids from shifting/running in PvP. Couple with my suggested Arcane Sabotage talent, and it gets 30% dispel resistance.

T11 - Arcane Barrage 1/1 - No change, I would just make Missile Barrage a pre-req for it. This is to counter-balance some of the PvP talents I suggested earlier in the tree.


BTW I think this is kinda counterproductive for this thread, and probably should be moved elsewhere.
