Original Post:

Hi. I'm relatively new to arena and am considering running 2s with a resto shaman. My goals right now aren't lofty - making it to the 1700-1800 bracket would be fantastic. I have a few questions I couldn't find specific answers to in this thread. Any advice/criticism is appreciated (if its a factor, please keep answers relevant to sub-1800 gameplay).
1) What weapon? I tend to be aggressive. I have [Soul Cleaver], [Jin'rohk, The Great Apocalypse] and [Merciless Gladiator's Bonegrinder]. I'm leaning towards the axe as I've always been of the mindset that I should choose the best available weapon and spec for it.
2) What spec? I'm usually 33/28 but am considering going 31/30 - dropping Second Wind for 5/5 flurry. This would provide more synergy with the crit from axe spec. At these ratings, should we expect to play long outlast matches, or is it reasonable to expect we can burst down a target early?
3) How much PvE gear? I'll keep 4 pieces of Season gear to get the intercept bonus. I'm thinking I won't be the focus target most times, and I can drop some resilience in favor of AP/Crit/ArP gear. Currently, if I use PvE bracers, belt, rings I'm at ~250 resilience. Do teams facing war/sham typically go for the shaman instead of feeding me rage?
Not trying to ressurect the 'mace spec vs sword' spec etc argument. I just figured at some iLvl great stats would outweigh stun/swing procs.
Thanks.
