Infraction for Carmak: Blizzard banned me

Post: Warning: don't farm too hard or your account may be closed
User: Carmak
Infraction: Blizzard banned me
Points: 1

Administrative Note:

Message to User:
Our forums aren't here so you can 'get the word out' on some unfair treatment from Blizzard or so you can provide feedback to blizzard themselves on whatever happened to your account while you were botting.
Original Post:
While I admit I don't know if the thread is appropriate I think that I should probably try to warn others. Since there might be people here who intend to farm DM and other places for achievement reasons I'll take the chance and explain what happened to me.

- After not playing much during the summer I started a project to reach exalted with Steamwheedle and possibly also Shen'dralar. The weekend before I was banned I was probably in DM for 10h or so.

- When attempting to log in on a Monday I discovered that my account had been permanently closed, the ToU-violation was "online trading". This was initially very puzzling since my account has never been shared and I've never bought or sold anything outside of the game either. After confirming that the guild bank was intact it also seemed unlikely that I had been hacked. After getting the account back I also noticed that my characters were untouched.

- After searching on the forum I connected the ban with my recent DM-farming, the same thing had happened to others with the same idea. I wrote about the DM-farming in my appeal as well.

- After a week I got my account back with another automated message indicating that they thought that I'd been hacked. I wasn't compensated for the lost week, but mistakes happen and I moved on.

- However, when my account was supposed to be renewed they didn't charge the credit card automatically, and when I checked account management I noticed that Visa payment had been blocked as a payment method! Despite paying for six-month periods since day 1 with no problems they didn't want my money anymore.

- I assumed that this was related to the previous ban which was confirmed by talking to Account & Billing, but they couldn't help me. My account had been flagged as insecure, and judging by what has happened to others I will not get my account back if I'm actually hacked (or they ban me for farming again).

- It's also clear that both the reason for the ban and the lifting of that ban were nonsense. They can't possibly have any evidence of online trading, and if they have IP-logs they will realize that I wasn't hacked either. The "careful investigation" they mentioned in the e-mail can't have lasted many minutes.

So not only was I banned without actually violating the ToU, but I didn't receive any kind of compensation, and as a bonus I now have to pay more per month since I'm not allowed to use credit cards anymore. While I guess there's not much to discuss about it I hope this can prevent someone from ending up in my situation. Thank you for reading.
