i think survival is viable due to the buffs your gonna get in a 25 man raid. SV hunters get AP from all different angles, including: Fort, Int, Kings, MotW. I think the most important thing about SV is getting haste capped and a large amount of crit. Explosive shot is great considering the cooldown on it is only 6 sec and a non-crit would equal about 1500 damage. crits in excess of 3k total. and LnL procs make explosive shot even more viable, This is the macro i use for survival:

#showtooltip Steady Shot
/cast [target=pettarget, exists] Kill command
/cast [target=pettarget, exists] Rabid
/cast Explosive Shot
/cast Steady shot
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

i just add in the kill shot at the end.
