Just a warning, please please please don't quote all of a gigantic post only to add a one paragraph response at the end. It's lazy, and it just clogs up the thread. Even if you're replying to the post in general, just quote a small part at most. Thanks!
Original Post:
Here is a simple senario

4 targets are taking 3k damage every 3 seconds over 18seconds they have 7.5k HP, your CoH heals for 1k per target and your FH heals for 2.4k pom heals for 2k

I am taking a lvl 70ish senario just because its easier to crunch the numbers.

-Targets take damage

-CoH

-Everyone at 2k deficit

-You cast PoM on one target

-Damage taken, 3 targets at -5k, one target at -3k, pom bounces to new target

-You cast a flash (and it lands 3 seconds after casting your PoM)

- One target at -2.6k, one target at -3k, 2 targets at -5k, one of them has PoM.

- If you start another flash it will land after the next tick, so 2 targets will die, since they are at -5k and PoM won't bounce. Your only chance is to PWS the PoMd target and let 1 target die. Even an SoL proc won't help you here.

Renew is not really an option because it starts ticking 3 seconds after its applied which is already too late to change anything.

=====================================

A CD won't kill off holy priests, we will still be good healers, but we will be in the unenviable situation where we are actually 3rd best at crucial healing tasks, while still having no buffs/utility. In TBC, after patch 2.2 we were very close 2nd in every task and after 2.4, we could easily match any other class.

A lot of people are acting nonchallant about this, but just wait a few weeks after the nerf hits and they will be singing a different tune, when they get replaced by druids and shamans in the 25 mans.

Worst of all, is that now when dealing with aoe damage, there will be some very tough choices for a priest and some very awkward and difficult rotation.

I don't think I would abandon my priest, but if blizzard turns out to be as hard headed and inflexible with this as they were with inner fire, I think I might just give up holy and go disc.

Having a large 1.7 second nuke, might sound imba but its nothing like that. You need to judge to get the haste, 50% crit rate on holy light does not come from free, paladins get 6% more from talents than we do not 20%. Even so 50% crit rate only equates to a 30% reduction in cost but priests get serendipity and improved healing from talents which on their own put gheal at exactly the same mana drain as holy light. You can give HL a 0.5 second cast time if you want to and it will still not give paladins the ability to maintain higher HPS.

Beacon might sound great, but tank damage is not synched. A huge heal on one tank could be complete overhealing on the other tank. Without beacon Paladins would be LESS good than priests in a 2 tank senario. Beacon does put them ahead but no more than they are on a single tank. PoM every 7 seconds is just insanely powerfull in two tank senarios, especially now that it can crit and proc inspiration.

The question is not how fast your heals land, but what is the highest HPS you can sustain. FoL is very mana efficient and paladins can regenerate mana while casting it and still maintain decent HPS, but when it comes to sustaining high HPS, they are not much better than holy priests.

What makes paladins great tank healers is not their ability to sustain higher HPS than anyone else, but their strong reactive abilities. HoS, HS and 1.7 sec nukes are really good in an emergency, sacred shield is the best kind of HoT for a tank and if shit hits the fun LoH is imba. Nevertheless a holy priest can also respond adeqately with PWS/PoM and GS and they also have inspiration, renew, test of faith and IHC procs.

Paladins and priests can sustain fairly similar HPS, as far as I can see, but paladins simply have a more specialised repertoire, that give them the edge at tank healing specifically. Paladins and disc priests are without question better suited than holy priests at tank healing, but the difference is not that large.

If the difference in single target healing between holy and disc/paladins was as large as you think, then after the 6 second CoH nerf, we might as well pack our bags and go home, because we will be completely useless.
Havoc12, once again a good post.

As the raid heal leader of our guild, this is what I'm worried about. I know a few of you have said that a non-smart heal CoH would be better then the CD on CoH but Ghostcrawler will not listen and has decided to do what he set out to from the start.

I will probally level up my Shaman while not raiding due to the lack of shamans we have. I don't understand how they feel putting a CD on CoH will not kill the AoE healing of a holy priest but alot of us do.
