Don't quote split like that. It makes posts terrible to read.

Original Post:

The two builds I posted were an approach to situations/group compositions where healing is less than optimal ( which sometimes is the case for me ), and attempt to provide a alternative of improved survivability of the pet for those situations, as well as the fact that Im assuming most hunters with the BM tree micromanage their pets abilities and "attitude" during a fight - sending in, pulling back, call of the wild, rake, minor CC for emergencies, etc -.
use the effect of Lick your Wounds to let your pet attack for some seconds while others have to pull it back, resulting in more dps.
This is what I usually attempt to do, those extra seconds sometimes do make a difference in a long fight, and thats the reason of some choices I made on the posted builds.
all the time it's licking, it's not attacking
Im not aware of the pet stopping attacks while using licking. To be quite honest I had not considered/noticed this before, but Ill make sure to check.
It may explain some drops in combined DPS I noticed but wasnt sure what they could be due to.
Dash and Boar's Speed are not irrelevant
Ive often wondered about their utility when compared to charge.
Dash makes the pet get there faster ( less time to start damaging the target ), boar speed Im assuming would be used solely because of the increased movement while Dash is on CD, but unless Im mistaken, wont the bonus provided by Charge be more useful as a pure DPS burst damage boost.
Running to a distant boss is not common enough in my experience to justify the points expenditure there, but then again I do see the reasoning behind the use of those points.
Neither of these builds actually use all the talent points available.
No, I purposefully left those 2 points out, to indicate they could be attributed as needed, or as the player's choice/needs demands.
Overall, from everyone's comments so far I see that perhaps my understanding of the pet setup is more situational than I thought it would be, or than it should really be.
