Pretty much a summary of what everyone already knows coupled with a smattering of misinformation.
Original Post:
I've seen some builds of 57/3/11... and only one of them is for single target spammage in any duration of the fight.

Arcane Mage (57/3/11) <--- Is it hands down.

I know there will be a lot of questions so i'll break it down by each spell i didn't take, you can easily see why i picked the ones i did they either add to damage or threat reduction.

Arcane Fortitude - Worthless, Mages are not supposed to get hit, extra armor as a clothie is dumb unless they plan to jump it to 10k or better there is no point in it.

Magic Absorption - Arguable, but still not worth it over all.

Magic Attunement - Someone mentioned Heigen. Good point... but his aura starts from his center, and he has a 10 yd hit box, so you have an extra 5 yards to back off from him and not recieve the debuff, just make sure your tank knows to kite in a semi circle, and you as the mage need to be aware of your distance.

Arcane Shielding - Again, Mages are not supposed to get hit. Thus no need to take this talent and let aura's burn away your mana.

Improved Counterspell - Purely PvP talent. Arguable, but I can't see it as anything but.

Improved Blink - Purely PvP talent.

Prismatic Cloak - Also PvP Talent.

Incanter's Absorption - PvP Talent. Your not supposed to get hit or use mana to build up that much spell damage. It would be a waste of 1000's of mana just to get a few hundred SP for 8 seconds.

1. I'll start with cooldown management (part a).

No matter how you do it, no matter what the boss, burn your cools as the battle starts. There is no point in saving them. All the arcane mage CD's are only a few minutes with this spec. You'll use them again and again for every encounter. Unless you speed thru each boss and do them all in under 2 minutes a piece there will be no problem with having your cools around for the next boss start or trash pull. That being said i'll move on...

2. Rotation (cooldown management part b)

Icy Veins is super nice in this spec especially the 2:24 CD, can be used 2x on every boss fight. Unless you are killing bosses in under 2 minutes, which at that point it means your raid is so over geared and tight who gives a crap. I saw a lot of people throwing up IV then PoM, then AB... so on and so forth... WRONG... you are wasting 2.5 seconds of your IV for an instant cast and GCD. This is the proper opening for and IV/POM setup..

POM>AB>AP>IV>AB>AB>Mbarr (if Abarr doesn't proc) AB>AB>AB>Mbarr

Now as far as all this goes when you are raid buffed with 22K+ mana, burn it fast, believe me you'll want to. Use your Evocation at exactly 2 mins into the fight unless you are still above 30% mana. (you'd be wasting a lot of free mana. With your mage armor up you'd build a lot over that 8-10 seconds) Then try to time it so that it will come up close to the time your IV becomes available again. Pretty much a rinse and repeat setup. Toss in "Slow" here and there if your other classes are not using any snaring effects, or you don't have a frost mage in there, this will up your damage by 12% on most of your spells used.
