This post was fine until the last two sentences. The "new icons for mages" thing is a pretty played out joke. Also as the PTR isn't over yet you don't really have a basis for arguing one way or the other about the possibility of future changes.

1) Blizzard is obviously looking at the PTR simcraft output, and they're taking it into consideration. "Third party" or not, it's not like they don't have a comparable utility internally. Our numbers and theirs don't align perfectly, but we're not so far out that they can discard our perception - based on our available tools - entirely. They just can't admit they're using external data.
2) Mage arena representation is down, but that can be predominantly attributed to the early popularity of the DK, and not anything being "wrong" with Mages in PvP.
The "Improved Winter's Scorch" debuff notwithstanding, I'm beginning to think there's not all that much in store for Mages. More new icons, anyone?
