Direheart, is OB really that big of a damage loss vs. DS in the blood tree come 3.1? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe OB got it's weapon% reduced in 3.1 to (80% weapon damage + 468) and an additional 12% per disease on the target. My math roughly estimates that out, including the +20% damage glyph, to (119% weapon damage + 697), which includes the +24% multiplier assuming two diseases are active. OB also receives +9% critical strike chance from the blood tree. DS on the other hand is changed to a base of (75% weapon damage + 223) but receives +30% damage from a talent, and UP TO +25% total damage from a glyph, depending on RP when used (+2% per 2 runic power), which my math puts at a total of (122% weapon damage +362) roughly. DS also receives +6% critical strike chance from talents, but the big one in my opinion is Might of Mograine changed to a +45% crit damage bonus on DS instead of OB. This would give OB a 2x normal critical strike damage of (238% weapon damage + 1394) with two diseases active. DS on the other hand would do (299% weapon damage + 887) total damage, assuming used with over 25 RP every time. I am not going to plot a damage curve at this point, but it looks like DS may scale much better with weapon damage and gear, and may possibly out damage OB with current gear once 3.1 hits. Aside from that, this actually means that DS will show an even larger difference using a 2h vs. DW than OB will, due to DS being more weapon damage based (if fully talented/glyphed) than OB, with OB providing a higher static damage increase.
