It has been said several times that the Serpent portion of Chimera Shot takes into account 40% of the total damage that the Serpent Sting do (5 ticks for unglyphed Serpent, 7 ticks for glyphed Serpent), not the amount of ticks it did when you refresh it with Chimera Shot.
That's why the Serpent Glyph is good for MM, else no MM hunter would take it.
