Another thing to consider when comparing mages to locks (although the comparison now is premature) is that all of our damage comes from us, with locks however part of their damage comes from pets. Some fight mechanics prefer direct player damage.
That said the biggest difference between us is the fact that we're limited by mana while warlocks can Life Tap, playing an alt lock in Naxx feels like playing a melee class in the sense that you don't need to stop for anything.

I think this will only get worse. There doesn't seem to be a Loatheb styled fight in Ulduar where warlocks have to think about life-tap vs death. And even that's just 1 fight in the entire 80 level end content. While I do see many warlocks mismanaging their pets and allowing them to die to flame walls and other AoE, it's not often enough to really put a dampner on their superior DPS.
Evocation and mana gems help, but with a 3 min cd on both, it doesn't do anything to help the dispairity between us and warlocks.
