I'd like to figure out some data about how many blue gems come out of one stack ore. Especially I am still up to the opinion that equipment, spec and buffs got an influance to your - lets call it - gem rate. I would be pleased if some of you got detailed data concerning this.
Like in TBC there is a felt (estimated) rate of one rare gem per ore stack (i.e. 4 times prospecting - please forgive me if this isn't the right word).
Trying to find this out I bought yesterday 91.5 stacks saronite ore and started prospecting for half an hour.
91.5 stacks saronite ore (366 times prospecting) gave me 99 rare gems. Wich means a gem rate of 1.081967213 per stack saronite ore.
Now to the point of interest. I prospected those stacks with my elemental shaman spec in my restoration gear with totems and weapon of the flamethounge alway up.
As far as I found in former prospecting sessions 1.08 is a quite good gem rate. This leads me to the thought that +crit rate has an influence to prospecting.
In 1 or 2 weeks (after selling all those gems cutted) I will start the next prospecting session with other gear and spec an without totems and buffs. I expect a lower gem rate. If you figured something out about this please provide me with the data. I will keep updating mine.
note: I am not an natural englisch speaker. So please forgive me if you find some errors and misswritings in here. (Thank you Tel for the rigth vocabular.)
