I dont think we should sacrifice dps...but lets face it...dps at the cost of the raid.........or a boss kill...for the sake of dps is just plain dumb. How many times have we seen dps gank agro off the tank to look good. Personally, if i dont come in first, or even first amongst the mages, it's not everything. Did I do my job? Did I make my health managable for the healers? Did I make the best possible decision for the raid at that particular moment..not just my personal dps ranking? If I can say yes to all those...i'm in good shape as far as i'm concerned. From time to time grandstanding is ok...but working with a team is the point of raiding imo. A mage..or any class that takes all those things into consideration...is my kind of raider. They tend to be more successful. Just my opinion.
And btw...this website ROCK!!!!
