I'd rather stack int like there was no tomorrow than having to split-gem for various, not so easily weighable stats (plus, as I said, stacking for one stat only seems to be normal for almost every spec).
|
I'd guess you only want to continue to do that because currently you Know what your best stat is - god forbid we'd have to actually put some thought into our gearing/gemming choices.

How is spamming holy light more fun than spamming flash of light? It still boils down to spamming one spell

Why? Blizzard have already said they don't want to make us uber raid healing machines, they're happy to keep us in our niche as it is. From the way GC has phrased his comments I'd guess the changes they have in mind are more to do with reducing our overhealing and regen, without reducing our effectiveness at MT healing.
Personally, I would love to see something like a disc priest's Grace or Divine Aegis on a stronger FoL - something to make us actually think about what spells we should cast. Imagine if we had an Arcane blast style mechanic on FoL! There are so many routes they could take to make our tank healing a more engaging experience.
Unfortunately, as GC has said, they'll probably have to nerf boss damage, and severely nerf healer regen before we get to a place where we are actually able to play by reacting to incoming damage and aren't just mindlessly spamming heals.
