No, it wouldn't really be funny, and no, it wouldn't happen. The difference between ilvl 213 and ilvl 245 is so large that the only way to make 4 pieces of the former stronger than the latter would be an incredibly overpowered set bonus that would be promptly nerfed.

I know a completely new set of gear will come out with 3.2, but if I remember correctly the jump from tier 7 to tier 8 was minimal at best, and in 3.2 I was thinking would it be possible that t7.5 will become better than t8.5 again? A couple of points.
A scourge strike damage reduction will also reduce the damage buff from 4 pc t8
B With the buff to death coil, the extra 5 RP per scourge strike might once again push t7 on top.
Any of you math junkies care to do your thing?
Once again I do realize t9 will trivialize this argument, but wouldn't it be funny that when 3.2 comes out your BiS gear pre 3.2 raiding will be good old scourgeborne.
