Well got the new rawr (equipment analizer), and according to it's calculations, I will do far less dps with the new tier 9 set than my current tier 8! I double checked it by theorycraft as best as i could as well and again came to the same conclusion which is our new tier 9 set is weaker than our tier 8 (at least for aff locks). Other classes are ranting and raving about their sets and the bonuses that go with them, and we got something that is going to drop our dps? Why did blizz do this?
I mean our new 2 set bonus: increasing our pets crit strike chance by only 10%?! Our pets do hardly any dps anyway, why increase that?! Even if we had a doomguard out, it's still very little dps and would only increase our dps very, VERY marginally to the point where it won't even be noticed. I would love to see the amount that blizz predicts this would affect our dps in any noticeable way?
Our 4 set bonus (for us aff locks): increasing our damage from corr and UA by 10%. Well our old set increased UA by 20%, and it only took 2 pieces from our set to get that!!! Now it's split up into 2 spells, meaning it's less worthwhile as we need to have both up on targets to get the same we did from our old tier 8 set, and again it takes 4 out of our set just to get this! I know corr does more damage than UA, but again I don't believe this would be too much of a dps jump at all.
Comparing our tier 8 set bonuses to our tier 9 alone shows a huge drop in what they offered us. I mean losing a 5% increase in crit for our SB which as aff contributes to about 30% of our dmg, and instead getting a 10% increased crit for our pet who contributes at best 5% of our damage? Then losing 20% damage of UA to get 10% split into 2 spells, making it take longer to get them up on the target?! Where was their reasoning here?!
So, it seems pretty apparent that the set bonus isn't any better. As far as the stats themselves, we're looking at for the most part only a very slight increase in spellpower and an increase in crit, which is a very weak stat for aff locks. Last I saw destro locks certainly weren't at any disadvantage at all compared to aff, so not sure why they helped them at the aff locks expense? Did they just not calculate all of this right?
I just need to know why this was done? Why is our set bonuses less than what they had been? Why is our dps going to drop with the new tier 9 set? Most people already choose destro over aff in raids, and now they're going to bring that number up even more with the increased crit chance that would benefit them far more than us from most of the set. If someone could please explain to me why this was done to us I'd love to know???
