I am bothered by some inconsistencies I have noticed on these forums. I have accepted the blood stat weights str=2.89, arp=2.75, hit=2.51(before cap), exp=2.47(before cap), crit=1.57, haste=1.5 and so on. With the assumption that these are correct and used by programs that spit out BiS gear choices, why are the BiS tables from the first page of this thread recommending we use any other gem then +20str? It does not make sense to use +10str10shit gems when the 10 hit you gain doesn't outweight the 10str you lose. Can someone comment on this please.
Another topic I would like to address is the use of meta gems. Right now the accepted dps meta gem is 21crit3%crit dmg increase. Again refering to the stats the 21crit rating is worth 21*1.57=32.97. Ignore the 3% dmg increase for now. To activate the gem we must use 2 blue gems in place of the red gems we would use. This results in a loss of 20str (assume you would use 10str15stam gems, which you would). The loss of 20str amounts to a loss in stat weight of 20*2.89=57.8. Therefore, the 3% increase in crit dmg must be equal to or higher than 57.8-32.97=24.83. Does anyone know if this is the case? If it isn't the case then we should be ignoring meta gem slots all together and geming for red only. It would also place non-meta helms above meta helms.
