I think AOD taunts mobs when established threat isn't in place or if your the DK who summoned them who has threat. If the tanks die and a whipe is imminent, I think AOD will taunt adds at that point because initial threat is lost. I think AOD was a last minute whipe recovery tool like the droods brez. I don't think it should be counted on for DPS, but is good for bosses you can just sit there and pound on. I think the reason the tool tip says taunt is to taunt mobs of the target dk who summoned them. So if you don't have high threat, your AOD won't taunt the boss into attacking them. But if no threat is established and the bosses is attacking you, I think that is when they will pull the boss off of you.
Because there has been plenty of times where me and a dk tank would pop AOD b4 a boss like in HTOC, I alwas noticed his adds die and are usually never a target of the boss intended(maybe adds due to no established threat on them, like the black knight during AOD phase).
