I use Savage Roar asap. It's much more economic then waiting for 5 cp's. (look how many seconds you get per cp) So: Rake, SR, shred and rip at 5cp.
sometimes I rip at 4 cp depending on the situation. If it looks I will not get the time to wait, I rip.

Only stacking one particular type of gem is counterproductive unless that's what Rawr/Toskk/SimulationCraft is telling you imo. "When not possible" is something I don't understand - you have the option of putting any colour gem in any slot, and unless one of these three programs is telling you that a particular gem bonus is or is not worth it - then you simply don't know.
Rip at 4CP afaik is a net dps loss unless you're talking about the very last seconds before losing contact with the boss for an extended period of time.
SR should be up asap at the start of a fight, no matter how many CP you have after your first attack (normally Mangle, unless Mangle/Trauma is already up). Rawr assumes you will use SR at 5CP always, but I'm not sold on that being the best usage in the "real" world. Either case, SR doesn't just cost CP, it also costs a GCD.
