Honor Gain Techniques
Having just recently hit 70 on my shaman (rolled him at TBC launch), I was wondering what the most effective way to farm honor is. I haven't PVP'd (sans arenas) since the days of R14 BG grinding, and am admittedly unfamiliar with the new item honor/item buying system.
For reference, my main goal is to snag one of the +resilience PVP trinkets and maybe a few gems.

AFK In Alterac Valley while doing something productive...but seriously, it depends largely on your server/faction, if your faction wins AV then thats usually your best bet, but if you're mainly getting stuck in 35-45 minute AV loses then i'd probably suggest whatevers the most active, WSG is fastest usually.

For the gems absolutely wait until after 2.1 hits for the massive price reduction. In general, a group is much more successful then a solo grind, and perhaps most critically, do the bonus weekends. Non-weeked honor pales in comparison to the bonuses, especially if you're winning. It's almost not worth doing the mid-week games if there's anything else you can spend that time on, bg's are pretty dull currently.

Get in fresh AVs, go kill the commanders up to Icewing Bunker, then get Arena-queued out.

Do this, only don't actually help out with killing the commanders. Run around the backfield looking for stragglers that you can take on 1v1 and kill them by yourself, 20ish honor for a solo kill with nobody else around to split the honor with. Kinda tricky and luck reliant, but on a good run you can get multiple kills in the backfield sometimes on top of all the honor from the NPC kills.

So, in conclution, if you have a small group of competent friends (gear and correct classes help, but aren't really much of an issue in BG-PvP) - go win WSG games, if you've got a large number of intersted friends - go win AB games, if you're soloing - go do AV.
Personally I like to switch between EotS and AV when soloing, since running around in circles trying to catch people, while waiting for commanders to get killled so you can leave, gets boring after a while, though EotS isn't all that much more stimulating either. Still, variation never hurt anyone.

I'm intrested in knowing how hard and how much CP faction leaders give post BC.
AV weekend, I play defence, if you have about 10 people defending at stormpike you can get over 100HK's before the alliance wins, and you get all the bonus honor.

You're only looking at maybe 125-175 honor since it's split between people and also diminishing returns, it's better honor to farm FoS and pick people off, or go defend a tower and farm people as they try and capture it.

Play whatever "weekend" it is with a semi organized team (ventrillo lol) consisting of guildmates, in game friends and passable randoms that need honor too. The rest of the time pugging AV is probably your best bet. However if your faction loses most of the time this will be quite the timesink.

Statistics for the last 106 AV games I've played (Alliance).
78 wins, 28 losses.
13.06 average honor/minute for Alliance, 11.36 average honor for Horde (those are only for the last 55 games).
This is *only* bonus honor you see at the end of the game, not including kill honor.
Now I don't have any statistics for a premade group, but after 10 EoS games (I gave up after this) my h/m ratio was 5.11, warsong is similar and arathi was at 6.58 after 20 games.
Even a 20 minute arathi bonus weekend victory yields only ~11 h/m.
If you manage to steamroll the enemies (6 minute victories, no bonus weekend) it is very worthy, around 24 honor/minute.

AV weekend is a cool 50k honor or so if you stick to it.

What is the most important thing to you? Won't you grant me the pleasure of taking it away.

Play a ton during holiday weekends.
Join a guild which run organized BGs during these weekends.
..and yeah, during AV weekend, make sure you're on more than normal. That place is one of the worst conceived ideas from Blizzard's honor system.

If you're just grinding honor and you're going to be doing it solo very much, do yourself a favor and go elemental. You'll stay alive a lot longer if you're not in melee range, which means you'll be collecting honor from the people dying around you.

It doesn't matter if you're alliance or horde for arena.
