This has a lot to do with lag - if your client doesn't receive the buff-has-been-stripped update quickly enough your casts will continue to be absorbed, as your client thinks that the Shaman still has the GT buff on and therefore the casts are redirected.

There's really not a whole lot Blizz can do about it.
Additionally, I saw another post which makes a good point - the GT buff is refreshed every 10 seconds from the time of casting, completely independent of when you strip the buff. So, with lag + auto refresh it's quite easy for you to have 4 poly casts absorbed. Remember, stripping the buff is a round-trip operation all the way to the other client, so it's lag at your end, plus server latency, plus lag at their end, plus server latency again, and then your lag back again to strip the buff from your client's perspective.

So...again, there's not much Blizzard can (or will) do about it.

Multiple shamans all with grounding totems down could also be the problem. Perhaps they heed the advice of warlocks, and travel single file, to hide their totems.

They explained it as follows: Grounding totem is bugy. Sometimes it stops things, sometimes it doesn't. Some spells will get absorbed no matter how many you cast, some won't.

If you want to know why, or why it hasn't been fixed, develop a relationship with a bliz developer and ask them.

Well if you count an enhancement shaman in full resto gear with curse of weakness on him the normal situation

It came up with attempting to test resilience so he was wearing all resto gear. It was pretty funny it was in excess of 45 seconds per unleashed rage.

It's not random, it's 100%. You have to do direct damage to make the totem go away.

A wand, a pet, a melee swing, a ranged attack or a rank 1 spell will all kill a 5hp totem. If you cast a spell 4 times and you get immune each time, *you're* doing something very, very wrong. Use any of the above methods to kill the totem, stop attacking the bubbled paladin or stop attacking the banished pet. I don't understand what's so hard about this.

Or press your ice lance button. That wasn't so hard now was it?
