New BG ideas
After reading the AV thread thought of a few ideas for cool Battlegrounds. Be nice if people could add what they'd like to see in a new battleground (please not AB but with minor thing X changed).
A few examples: Everytime people talk about AV they mention why isn't there just a big war like BG where people actually fight, I think I'd go for a fairly small sized playfield with 3 hills each hill conveys some sort of small buff to the rest of the battle (100 attack power could be one) at any time only your faction is inside it. Would have 40-80 per side and joinable by groups of up to 5. After 20-40 minutes the side with the most kills gets a small honor boost and game ends. The above is so little work for them and sure would prove popular. Or for an exciting BG, something a bit like speedball, a ball you pick up by touching, throwable like a grenade (but instant upon targetting), and dropped if damaged for 2000 or more within 5 secs, big marker over ball carriers head. Or BG with vechicles like larger sized steam tonks/Halaa style Griffons/controllable robots (all stuff already implimented). For that matter a raid fight like this would be awesome. |
Creating a BG with elements of AB and Negrand would be cool.
Jousting on mounts could also be fun. Having a BG where you go in ONLY with your class would be interesting. Imagine a 10-warrior or 10-warlock AB? |
BG's with flying mounts. Who needs anything else?

I always wished that EotS was that way especially since it's got the whole draenei/blood elf thing going on already... |
Aldor vs Scryer DOTA style map imo, 3 paths you can go up. Bases to defend and reclaim and such, would want to be 20-30 man I would guess. To win you wouldn't beable to neglect any path to heavily, more serious penaltys for dieing since you get put back to your base and have to run back to the army again.
Light waves of troops without agro that causes a swarm of 1000 npcs attack healers like AV 1.0 Would be hard to balance the fun/timelimit of the game, as noone likes a 10 hour battle. Instead of Items or level ups, there could be perment buffs as you're team gets more HK's / control more sections. It would be increadibly hard for them to pull off, but i'd like to see it as a battleground you actually play for fun, not rewards. |

DOTA had great ideas, using that to create a new BG would be awesome. |
What I'd really like to see is a BG that isn't just a mirror match, where the sides have different objectives. UT style assault maps for example.

Don't get me wrong, I like your idea a lot though, it would be a lot of work to pull off right but it has potential. Personally, I'd like to see a heavily indoor based Battleground with a Deathmatch/Last Man Standing style of play to it. Good, quick fun. My suggestion would be to have it set inside a Naaru complex/ship of some kind or maybe a dark themed Legion fortress. |
I too had hoped BGs would end up similar to DOTA. That seems a lot more fun to me than what they have now. Though I do still like WSG just because I've always been a fan of capture the flag. AV is just lame now though. On my battlegroup it's just a big PVE cluster, it's so dull.

Something, preferably formed like the bony wastes with a bonus of 10% additional honor gained for every tower held. Tokens obtainable from dead enemies that you could turn in for stuff like grenades, bombs etc.
Quick takeover time on towers, making zerging obsolete as you would get bombed to death and gain no honor for your kills. ps. Please no idoor stuff, its stupid how much of an issue this is for druids :( |
I'd like to see something going on indoors. I know it's heavily imbalanced against casters, but I'm so bored of all the open-field BGs now. I want multi-teired castles, or labyrinths, or somthing like that. Some of the best PvP I've ever had has been long running battles through Ashenvale's caves and tunnels, and those Stormrage Barrow Dens in Moonglade

A coingrab kind of BG would be interesting.
Basic premise: Every time an opponent dies, your team's orb collector automatically receives 1 orb of random color. In addition, the fallen opponent drops one orb that is lootable by anyone on your team. Orbs come in four varieties: Red: increase damage and healing done by 5%. Yellow: reduces damage taken by 5%. Blue: increases your haste and spell haste rating by 50. Green: restores 100 health and mana every 5 seconds. Each player can have up to 5 orbs of each color at any given time. Each orb possessed (shown with an overhead indicator, and orbs do not take inventory space) decreases the player's movement speed by 1%. Upon death, a player loses all orbs in his or her possession, but only one orb can be looted from his or her body. There are orb collectors at each team's base, and the goal of the game is to collect 800 orbs. Players lose all personal orb bonuses when they turn in orbs, but possessing a certain number of orbs as a team gives the following benefits: 200 red orbs collected: increases damage done by 5%. applies to everyone on your team. 200 yellow orbs collected: reduces damage taken by 5%. applies to everyone on your team. 200 blue orbs collected: increases haste and spell haste rating by 50. applies to everyone on your team. 200 green orbs collected: restores 50 health and 50 mana every 5 seconds. applies to everyone on your team. The point of the BG is to be fast-paced, high death count, and a balancing act between personal pewpew and the team coffer, as well as a balancing act between mobility and power. |
Get a Druid in bearform to collect everything, and cheetah away?
