It simply wouldn't unless you're playing in 2v2, but even then Blessed Resilience is superior in my opinion.
This is a problem which currently exists with Priests and the gear they are expected to use when it comes to arena, you simply have to remember that you are no longer the main healing class when it comes to PVP, and your Mana Pool / +Healing needs to run around that fact.
Now when it comes to brackets where you are expected to be the main healer, you need to realistically play in heavy control teams which will allow you to drink or will be able to provide you with some form of mana return

I know this isn't exactly what this thread has been focusing around. But I'm wondering where I should be heading with my alt. I'm at a point now where every arena/honor gear I would grab drops me 30+ damage and gains a bit in stats. I guess my biggest question is what to get next. I've got ~300 points, and will be getting 600+ a week. I just can't decide on going for a weapon, or keep pushing for the gear.
The Armory
I wasn't sure if this was on-topic for this thread, because it seemed to be all about disc/holy priests.

This talent is just a disaster all around in my personal opinion.
As for the kiting thing, put up rank 1 SWP on your bars and hit him with it when he gets in range before he charges you and force him to switch to berserker and intercept. Then he's out of distance closing options for 20+ seconds (and as the person above mentioned, trinket out of the stun and hamstring and you've got a head start).

Is it just me being stupid or what? Blessed Resilience = they cant crit you. Blessed Recovery procs on crits, how can Blessed Recovery overwrite Blessed Resilience? I don't get it.

Talents that are based on crits even proc if the crit was converted into a non crit, either because of ressilience or another talent (like Blessed ressilience). Thats how I understand it.

There is no conversion into non crits. Resilience simply gives you a (insert your -crit% here) % chance on a normal hit to proc anything that usually only procs when you take a crit.
Say you have -10% crits through resilience, 2/2 Martyrdom, 1/3 Blessed Recovery, 3/3 Blessed Resilience:
Whenever you are crit, Martyrdom procs 100% of the time, Blessed Recovery 100% of the time and Blessed Resilience 60% of the time.
Whenever you take a normal hit, Martyrdom will proc 10% of the time, Blessed Recovery 10% of the time and Blessed Resilience 6% of the time (since it's only 60% even on crits).
You can proc one, two or even all three of these effects on a normal hit. The odds are just pretty low to get all three at once.

Great. Confirmed that several can proc today on the PTR(or maybe one effect stopts working? At least I had both buff icons ), so I'd recommend taking Blessed Recovery too, 25% healed of the crits is great, not a waste of talent points in my opinion.

I don't think 3/3 Blessed Recovery is really worth it. Chain procs will just overwrite each other and it ends up not ticking at all. Much like a warriors Deep Wounds never actually ticks if he chain crits and keeps reapplying it. The talent points are better spent elsewhere.
1/3 is good though, it acts as a dispel/purge buffer since it's a magic effect.

Chain proc usually wont happen, because if you were crit, BS most likely is up also and you are 100% crit immune for 6 sec (it still can proc around ~10% depending on your resilence).
Better tell me how to survive frost mage/(rogue or druid) when your partner can not help you at all. CS followed by feral charge = toast if trinket is on cd..

If you stand in the middle of the field, you're doing it wrong. You should never be open to 2 dps at the same time. If Mage jumps on you, shield/renew/pom and keep dispelling yourself. Feral is easy to heal thru, they're annoying, but far from deadly. Any 2 dps on a priest, will kill him if, as you said, partner cannot help you.

That seems to be too good to be true. The PVE implications of such a spell is staggering. Although I guess you'd have to stack 7 priests to keep it up all the time, which wouldnt' be feasible. Still it would make the Kael fight for example completely trivial, as well as many other timed spike fights.

I don't buy it for a couple of reasons. First, it has fairly severe PvE implications, although that might be the point. Second, Pain Suppression isn't really the problem with deep Discipline, it's the series of relatively minor 5 point talents in the lower part of the tree. (The MS to PI link is particularly troublesome.) Third, I can't imagine them making priests choose between healing power and what would undoubtedly be an extremely necessary buff.
Also, I have a feeling that to prevent people rotating 7 priests to keep it up all the time, it'll come with Weakened Soul or an equivalent. (Of course, that's committing as many healers as you currently bring for an entire raid to mitigate 2/3 of the damage on a single player, which given that even a hypothetical 41/30 priest isn't quite as effective as a full healing spec means you'd probably need to bring additional healers. It also assumes you can find 7 healing priests.)

All they need to do is add a threat dump component (65%? for the duration) to make it completely unusable on tanks. Sounds balanced to me.

If it really gets lowered to that CD, it will surely see a foeberance-esque effect. Otherwise it seems overpowered.

The only time I've found anything past Focused Power useful in the Discipline tree was playing a frost mage / elemental shaman / priest team. I tried full disc, hated it, and switched to 31/30 to keep PI and Spirit of redemption. It was pretty wild for the 1700-2k range. I don't bother speccing it anymore solely because of gold, since I play 28/33 for 5s.
Derailing that comment, have you priests found it necessary to wear 493 resilience? I wear 430 and have the option of wearing 475 and will be able to hit the cap next week. But is it worth it? I would lose quite a bit of stats and useful trinket slot.
I'd also love to run 4 piece season 2, but would it then be necessary to drop some of the 12 STAM spam for resilience to make up for 2 piece?
These questions are mostly directed at 5v5 arena.

It feels like I have tried everything to survive against warriors to no avail. I run with a 27/34 SL lock and am Focused power/Blessed resilience myself.
Assuming no strategic errors on our part, we beat almost every team except for Warrior/healer teams. If the warrior goes for my lock, then we can pull off a pretty decent win ratio by OOMing the healer. However, should the warrior go for me (which they almost always do at the 1950+ range) I can't live long enough for one of the other players to die, even with angel form.
I really have tried it all I feel....I pre-shield when I know he will intercept, pre-renew, pre-Mending, bait pummel with mind blast/control, refresh inner fire when it drops......Even all of that just can't brute force through a stormherald and mortal strike and mace stun. There has to be a way to survive...
There has been no magic patch in the last few months that made a priest go from one of the top 2v2 healers to completely unsurvivable.
What is going wrong?
P.S. I have been hamstrung THROUGH the blade's edge pillars so often lately, and get this, I was hamstrung THEN intercepted from the same distance...I was facing the warrior as it happened. How can you justify that? True story, he was at least 15 yards away

Hey all, first post in this legendary forum
I, a 28/33 holy priest am running 2v2 with a MM hunter and can't really complain, as our rating is lovely considering my PvP experience.
Having reached 2276 rating now, we are stumbling upon warlocks with 450+ resilience that just spam drain life / drain mana, which heals for insane amounts even if I dispel the fel armor. They're either teamed with a resto druid, holy paladin or another warlock that does the same as his buddy.
We can beat most paladin/warlock teams by just focusing on the warlock and killing his pet (twice if I fail to dispel the fel domination). After the pet is dead, I can run away to drink while my partner's pet / viper sting slowly eats away his mana. It's risky, but we've pulled it off.
However, if the warlock is teamed with a druid we just can't catch the druid / can't seem to drain his mana. This is even worse in the Blade's Edge arena, because they can drink after jumping off the bridge to get rid of the pet.
Even worse are the duo warlock teams with the engineering belt to absorb ~4k(?) dmg. They just DoT us up, I have to spend the entire time dispelling everything while they're just standing still spamming drains & dot's on my partner. We have no chance at all, they don't ever seem to drop below 80% HP.
Basically, I'm oom and dead before they/their healers even reach 50% mana.
Any thoughts / suggestions on how to beat the warlock teams?
I'm also accepting advice considering my gear and spec.
( The Armory)
I don't want to rely on shadow resistance though, as the gear swapping is being fixed in a future patch.
And oh, /wave Ausmara thanks for the 25rating yesterday!

Shadow PvP Question
Shadowsauce.
I am looking for some feedback on this shadow build for arenas. Let me know what you all think. I've been looking at different builds for a while and I feel that this is the best. I'm only really doing 5v5s, too. Thanks in advance.

You still haven't realized that you're simply not supposed to be able to beat such teams in that horrible bracket? The only thing you can possibly do is change to a full PVE gear set up in your weapons, neck, cloak, rings, and your second trinket, but even then you've already lost. You also need to change your play style from what I have seen from you, you run around like you're in plate and have 40k HP while standing in the LOS of everyone.
You probably need to change your spec too, it's rather bad to be quite honest ;p
And seems as we're having digs, I'll thank you for the 100 points my old 3v3 took off you guys in our leveling process, but hey, we didn't get lucky against some bad team, unlike you ;p

Firstly, it *is* possible. We have beat some druid/warlock paladin/warlock teams. I would just like a tactic from you guys that has a higher chance of beating them.
|

Talking about 2v2 or 5v5 now? <.>
In 5v5 I just run around & mana burn what I can see. I play totally different in 2v2. And the only time we faced your team in 5v5, we won.
|

|
About the spec, I expected more from you than saying "it's rather bad". I'm looking at your spec as we speak, you take a trash buff instead of extra mana / +crit% instead of 3/3 blessed recovery. Personal opinion if you ask me.
|

Okaaay so you want to start digs
A. Any competent players with that class set up simply will not be beaten by your currently class set up, the only possible counter for it is for you start running around with a Rogue to provide some form of counter to it, even then don't expect it to go well.
B. From the times I have played you have left yourself incredibly open, running around in the open without even attempt to get LOS on any form of cast, and while I know this won't effect things like Drain Mana or Life 100% of the time, it helps on the DOTs a lot. As for what you do in games, that's entirely dependent on your partner and the situation you are in, my observation was more as to where/how you play yourself.
C. I take a trash buff as an extra dispel buffer on every member of my team, and I don't take Blessed Recovery (all the way) because as Dawts (Hell he's a warrior from our realm) clearly states, it simply overwrites itself every single time you get crit, so wasting 3 points in it when in reality it should just be acting as a dispel buffer would be a waste.
Improved Power Word: Shield probably isn't worth investing many points in for the exact same reason, while it's a nice thought to have, the chances of it being purged away are extremely high, and 90% of the time it's going to be gone in 2 seconds anyway, so you're better spending the points in Absolution and Mental Agility (Think about it, while you're being assisted you can only do instants, the main one of these tends to be dispel, and it's probably the spell you cast most in 5s regardless so make it cheaper!)
D. Lawl had the same issue

1) Have your lock wear more damage gear. He is already Soul Link, and if they are focusing him - you have free reign to mana burn, plus he has fel armor to make up for damage taken.
2) Take wider arcs around the pillar.

What should I be telling my lock to do? The fear immunity is really rough on him....I know my gear could be better The Armory
I usually try to brute heal myself through it if I get caught and hope we can land some fears after the immunity wears off, but by that time, I am lower mana than the opposing healer.
PS I respec'd for raids, I am normally 28/33
