I'd use the Darkglow and mana meta as soon as possible. Right now as a priest you need every edge you can get with mana given the absurdity of innervate. I switched to both the other day and tracked the numbers on recount and it was really impressive how much they actually return during games.

There's something I don't understand regarding the healing set for priests. Both satin and mooncloth have the same bonuses (set and gloves, I mean). So it comes down to SPI vs crit rating, pretty much that's it. Now, in pve, disc regen thanks to efficient healing and crit is primary for the spec, while SPI is nothing special (even with meditation), holy on the other side value SPI a lot.
How come in pvp everyone uses mooncloth instead of silk? As disc it should be better to use silk both regen wise and in order to be more able to counter bursts thanks to some crit. Have I missed something?

As a poster mentioned, priests need every edge they can get over druids right now because of innervate, and this meta gem does help.

PvP nub
Hey guys, I need some help. My buddy wanted to start a 5v5 team and asked if I wanted in on it, now I haven't really pvped much except for the occasional world pvp way back in vanilla wow and also some BGs. So I'm looking for a good disc spec and I'm wondering what would you guys recommend? As for gear I bought all the stuff I could with my 230ish Valor badges, and I did ask a few of the heavy pvpers in Dalaran which is better. I was told the Hateful Satin set would be good, I don't know if this is true, but any help you can offer up would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

Replenishment. Disc Priests gear for throughput in PvE since mana regen isn't much of a concern. If mana did become a significant problem in PvE people would start valuing spirit and mp5 more highly. In PvP mana is an issue due to massively reduced mana pools (I lose ~ 10k mana with full PvP gear) and no replenishment.

You can look at my secondary spec, I only play 5s at the moment so it's optimized for that. Most variations on 60/11/0 will work but there are a few points I place differently than for 2s. Reflective shield is mostly useless, since it only affects myself and I don't get targetted much in my composition. Or simply, in 2v2s there's a 50% chance your shield will be doing damage, in 5v5s it's 20%. I don't take improve renew, since it's mostly useless in 5v5s where most kills are realised by targetting swapping. This means I put points into holy spec, and subsequently 1 point into divine aegis for a trash buff. I Also take improved PW:F since it affects 5 people instead of 2.

For 2v2 anyone have a decent strat for rogue/(anything else with an interrupt). Stunned, stunned, stunned, trinket out, heal kicked, stunned, heal interrupted by other guy, death isn't working so well.

I've been looking for a good post, thread, article, whatever on disciple priest basics, as I just hit 80 and intend to pvp. So far I haven't found anything particularly good that tells me say, when to use what heal, what is important binding prominence, what offensive spells to use and when, etc. Just a very basic discipline priest primer, basically. Anyone have any such article?

I really would like to know, at what amount of resilience you guys say: hey that's enough I go for throughput now (and what life unbuffed maybe). Because at the moment I really don't know what Trinkets I should use. I just swapped an item and fell back to 95x resilience. I use the 84 resilience and chance to procc for 590 sp WG trinket at the moment wih medaillon of the horde (epic one with 84 resilience). Should I go for 111sp WG with stun remove and the medaillon ? Do they stack? I asked people they said yes but I need a confirmation from a reliable source.
My last question for now would be your reaction when rogues initiate in a 2on2. I play with a ret pala and it's really tough for me to escape their CC. It's so sick imo ... I'm casting slower Im healing less and I'm cc'ed alot. Really sick
edit: more questions coming:
-I just started arena again. If I manage to get up to 1450 rating. What item should I buy with my arena points/honor? Replace my 2 hateful set items with deadly, or get an offhand/wand?
-what spell haste is necessary?
Wouldn't it be great to have a new thread where the topic starter gathers all his info. Like the healing compendium. Say you arrange the possible speccs with the gear needed and so on. I would do it but I doubt I have the insight to write it yet

They don't stack. You can check that pretty easily by buying the item, triggering it, and looking at cooldowns - before immediately selling it back to the vendor. I was rather dissapointed too, but unfortunately that's the way it is.
Regarding sick CC, that's unfortunately where your partner has to peel for you. I'd absolutely use as many shields as you can for obvious reasons, but ret is perhaps not the best option for control unless he's being smart with defensive cooldowns to protect you. For your other questions, it's very subjective... gearing in the arena isn't an exact science since it depends so much on skill and your partner/comp.. for example playing PMR (a few seasons ago) I found that I couldn't sacrifice resilience for throughput due to many teams relying on a devastating opener, which my teammates had to deal with provided I survived. Basically play some games and ask yourself some questions - am I dying early? do I run out of mana? are my teammates dying? base your gearing on the answers to those questions.
Regarding PvP info, I'd recommend looking at SK-gaming for a general guide for FoTM specs and comps - which tends to cover glyphing/gear quite well. As I said before, there's no spreadsheet that will tell you that you get "more" from your gear if you gem it this way than that, as you have for PvE - there's only really game changes which switch the level that one stat is more useful to you than another - for example mp5 for the next patch.

In the process of gearing up my priest alt and am undecided as to which weapons to go with. I'm pretty confident I'll be able to get my arena weapon in the next couple weeks but in the meantime I have two choices.
I have [Spire of Sunset] that I got from Naxx.
I went ahead and crafted:
[Titansteel Guardian]
coupled with:
[Handbook of Obscure Remedies]
The stat differences between the staff and mace/OH are:
+35 sp
+24 stam
+29 crit
+38 spi
-65 int
-23 mp5
-74 haste
I spent about 500g to craft the Guardian and Im undecided as to whether I should just sell it and keep the staff or equip it. While the mace/OH will give some good pvp increases I just cant decide if its worth it.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: The stat differences listed are based on staff with +69 sp enchant and mace with +50 sp enchant.

Fake cast, or constantly spam mind control to get the rogue to kick that, if he doesnt, hes gonna get mc'd and if your partner is all over the other healer, they wont be able to spam dispel on you and the mc'd rogue. Keep a dot on the rogue after he uses cloak to prevent re-stealths after fears. Most rogues will open with a CS, and then go into a KS. Never trinket CS, as the KS is where u want to do that. They will stay on you for a bit until they vanish, just to get a re-opener on you.
Bottom line is that eventually a rogue or warrior is going to kill you. I have a much harder time with warriors than rogues, but all it takes is that one kick or pummel and your going to die pretty quickly after. I play with a ret pally and were sitting at 2250, but unable to really make a push for anything more than that. Druid DK and or Warrior usually just outlast us mana wise. Druid mana is just dumb, and my ret has a very difficult time killing any healer in general. 80% of the games we lose is because I go oom.

delete and reroll pally imo although discs are sooo hard to kill. Penance is hard to counter because even if you interupt it halfway through, they still got 2 heals from it.

Priest Macro Question
/cast [help] Power Word: Shield(Rank 14); [harm] Mana Burn
This current macro i would like to know how i can put in a modifier to allow the power word shield to be casted on myself no matter what i am targeting when holding down my modifier button which is your default ALT button.
Any info would be appreciated.
Sorry i couldn't find a macro section so i figured this would be the best place to find out since its the pvp section

/cast [modifier:alt, target=player][help] Power Word: Shield; Mana Burn
Personally I condense everything into macros like this to save space. For example:
#showtooltip
/cast [modifier:alt,target=player][target=mouseover,help][help][modifier:shift,target=targettarget,help] Flash Heal; Smite
which does (in order of checks)
1. If alt is held, cast flash on myself.
2. If mousing over a friendly, flash heal them
3. If targetting a friendly, flash heal them
4. If targetting an enemy and holding shift, assist-heal your target's target
5. If targetting an enemy and not holding shift, smite them.
