Arena statistics.
Damage meters and especially Wow web stats(WWS) has done alot for PVE progress. The ability to review tries/ kills at bosses in retrospec. Giving raid leaders the ability to identify strenghts and weaknesses by looking at numbers. Numbers is as always not the truth, but here comes the greatness of WWS, separating tries and bosses and saving alot of data, the result is that you get the over time look.
I have tried some different ways to review Arena fights to identify where our weaknesses lies. But it always seems to fall on the part that there are no real good option on PvP damage, addons. SW_Stats gave me the oppertunity to see how much damage we did/ taken, but I never figured out how to only view our opponents damages. There also seem to be the issue of this kind of damage meters that after a while you have loaded alot of old games, needed to get a clear view of whats really happening, but draining my computer resources. I have also tried running a small manual excel sheet after each game, trying to find stats of winnings and loosings in setups and comparing it to the overall winning/ loosing stats of different arenas. What I feel important would be: Damage/ Healing done Damage taken Team setup Opponents setup What arena This data would give me information of, who on my team takes most damage and therefore need Sta gear and who can go for more DPS/ HPS gear. It would also reveal what who are most valuable opponents, in terms of outpu healing/ damage. Sadly all these ideas have been too spread out caused by lack of time. So I turn to the all mighty community of EJ's to get your input on how you do to review/ gather stats from Arenas. Especially on the tricky part of gathering data from same faction and server players. |
You might like to take a look at Rupture and associated software/addon. They have some issues to iron out, since it's still fairly new, but it comes with excellent logging of arena/BG matches, and a 'recap' feature (which will be nice if/when it works fully) which allows you to trace out the path of a match.
At the very least it's got dmg/healing stats and team setups all logged in there. Team overviews / schedules / win rates in x, y, z arena etc. It's all nice stuff. My own profile as example; Rupture - Elikai |
The problem with PvP is that each game will be different. You could go along with this whole idea and use rupture, another program to eventually find out who in your group takes most damage, etc, and then combat that with changes in gear, however in the end that will not solve your issue.
I am unsure if you are doing this because you are bored, or are doing it to make your arena team better. But in my eyes, you cannot prepare yourself for something that is unpredictable. |

If its a 4DPS 1Healer - I know I need to bubble and spam heal my Warrior ASAP, And hopefully my Shaman will be able to lust. If its a 2 Warrior 3 Healer Team - BOFreedom my Shaman and keep him alive, while trying to lock down one of their healers. If its a standard 3 DPS 2 Healer - as soon as my rogue unstealths, I need to clean all snares and dots, and keep BoSac up on whichever target is taking secondary damage. PVP is anything but unpredictable, since there is only a limited subset of answers, and you can ask yourself the same questions, and hopefully come up with the same answers as the opposing team. Sure some teams try stupid things like bursting me (a Paladin with 300+ resil, Blessed Life and 18k Armor) down, others try stupid things like CCing our Mage (???). But those teams eventually fall to the bottom of ratings anyways, so you don't see them anymore. |
For determining the cause of deaths, it might be useful to review the log with expiration ("/expiration report <player name>").
I wonder if general stats of each game will eventually be logged in the armory similar to the way warcraft 3 games are logged on battlenet (http://www.battle.net/war3/ladder/w3...rName=SGS.0222, http://www.battle.net/war3/ladder/w3...ameID=14660626). |

I am not only looking for damage takers/ dealers but also stats in, what arena are we better at. What setup is better, is the numbers tied with arenas. We've all had different teams setups which we think are bad, but can't really put the finger on why. Maybe the answer lies in the nubmbers. There are a ton of diffrent things i'd like to parse from a combatlog but sadly I lack the skills in programming. Even in Chaos there is order! |
