Question for you: Is your preference for maces just because those are the best weapons you have? Cause, like a previous poster said, Armor Pen isn't that huge of a stat in PVP. Don't go that deep into Combat just for Mace Spec.

Like you, I tend to only do Battlegrounds, and I've had a lot of luck with this spec:

Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

It's not perfect (I'm no spec expert), but despite being in only PVE gear, I do surprisingly well against well-geared plate classes in PVP. Glyphed Vigor is great for huge opening combos, Cold Blood -> Eviscerate after a Shadowstep can hit pretty hard, and you get tons of survivability from the Sub tree.

Just a suggestion for you to consider if you're sporting some sexy maces.

Rogue damage for positioning

my rogue has 870 resilience, for doing the most damage in arena ( i only play 2v2 and 3v3) u need to switch targets often and keep them dotted. switching targets also helps to not be kited and u can get behind ur target easier. im writing this at work so im going fast sorry! stack ur rupture and poisons on casters and focus on mele more this sems like basic knowledge to me but thought it could help,

Actually, my interest in maces is a holdover from the original character creation, back when maces stunned… I still cry at night. So far as my gear is concerned, The World of Warcraft Armory , it’s nothing much to write home about, the Paper cutters I picked up as a steal on the AH the day I hit 80 (less than 190g for both dags and enchants). I’m in a large guild that raids a lot but just ding-ed 80, so it’s going to be a while before I get a permanent spot.

Though at this point, the mace spec for me is like chasing the unicorn or framing an Oozling. I’ve got my dual spec slot open to play with, the will and interest to find the sexy maces.

I like that spec you posted – thanks. I was also tinkering with one that reached far enough up to grab deadly brew and Improved Kidney Shot, but it’s very much a work in progress. Your spec and that one offer the advantage of being weapon neutral and that’s likely a good thing. I just can’t help but think that there must be an actual mace spec hiding someplace

Thanks for your ideas

Agi Vs AP?

Hey
Im playing an UD rogue, Muti/Subt spec and am mainly hateful/deadly!
Atm im hitting 790Resi, which seems like a lot! Am thinking, is this Gimping the rest of my stats, went for full resi gemming wise and am now thinking i need to go for Agil or AP...
I know this could get into a HUGE discussion, but what is better for PvP, Agility or AP?

As far as i can see...Agi gets almost the same amout of AP (loosing a few here and there) and agi increases Dodge chance and Crit, so surly this is the obvious answer! Is there anything im missing, some kinda buff to AP?

Thanks
Theo

It's not the same amout of AP since there's 16agi gem and 32ap gem.
Also which is better, there's no clear answer.

Pure AP can offer a bigger burst, but Agi gives crit that helps to get those bursts more frequently.
As you said, agi increases dodge as well.

However not that Agi does not increase Spellcrit (ie Poison crit) while ap increases poison damage.

My advice would be to gem AP if you're using heavy PvP gear and gem Agi when swapping in some PvE gear (since your AP will be higher due to the PvE gear already). YMMV.

At 70 after doing some tests and some fun maths :P i worked out that 2agi roughly = 1.73 AP,
Havnt done tests for a long time...Is this not the case anymore?

Going fully PvP gear so that i live a litttle longer. Another stat that i seem to be rejecting is hit rating...any thoughts here? Good to get some hit? or best to stack AP/agi/crit and for them to be critted to death?

Also, never seem to see rogues gemming haste, which you would think would be beautiful in PvP, more hits per second...is there any reason for this? I suppose its a trade off between Strong hits, and more hits

As i said, i havnt been a huge PvP player since 70 mainly PvE so might ask some silly questions.
Thanks again
Theo

For the most part, what kills people, is burst. Mutilate and eviscerate on your end, and whatever your partners do. So hit and haste are rather poor stats. AP vs Agility is a close race for sure, with AP offering the highest amount of damage per. While agility increasing your chance of getting a crit-streak, in addition to what it does for you defensively. And the stat-weights for AP and Agility have shifted somewhat from 70->80, so I wouldn't rely on those.

I think Ming has written a couple of articles on rogue gemming/gearing @ World of Ming | WoW Riot | WotLK, Wrath of the Lich King, WoW, World of Warcraft, Arena Season 5 One today and some others before that.

Anyone have any tips for rogue/resto druid vs. war/resto druid these days? Without a dispel or any offensive pressure from my druid this fight is completely one sided. It's incredibly hard to even get a cyclone off with the 12 second charge nonsense going on...

One way to play would be to work towards bringing their druid OOM, without yours doing the same. Because a rogue just isn't going to be able to kill a restodruid with mana who doesn't suck. Let alone kill a good restodruid with a competent warrior peeling for him.
Switch targets whenever you can. Both to make the other druid hot up a new target, and to peel the warrior of your druid so he has to heal as little as possible. I'd say use your KS (into a cyclone -> swap back to druid) on the warrior, because you're not really going to kill a druid in one, you're just going to pressure him a tad (at best). And a stunned warrior isn't doing much damage to you, and it can also give your druid chances to drink.
Then again, the other team can do the same shit, and then no one is going to die. Enjoy 2v2!

This is gonna brain fart question but I'm going to go Combat and pick up Precision. Is there really any need to stack up to 5% of hit on my gear then?

5% hit from hit rating on gear = 5/5 Precision.
But you might as well skip precision and take something else in its stead if you have enough hit from gear.

I actually can't, I need 2% in precision to continue, unless I put it into Imp Gouge or Imp SnD

Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft is what I'm looking at. It's good for me because I use mostly PvP gear, and I'd rather not gem for hit if I can avoid it.

Edit: Bought my Slicer, and asked a GM to refund it within 6 hours. Mutilate is just that much better.

I think Combat is really only viable in 2v2, and perhaps in 3's in some sort of cleave-comp with DK or Warrior (BF+KiS+Bladestorm?).

On another note, after some math, I'm quite certain that Spike+Eviscerator > FoO+Eviscerator or FoO+FoO,
due to PvE rings being a superior choice (Cindershard+Brann25 or Brann25+10).

That is if you're aiming at Goggles+4pc with 600+ resilience without blue resilience gems.

Then again there's the fact that Spike is 3k points, while FoO will only cost you DKP, although in the long run that's not really relevant.

Trouble with Prot Pally Healers

I'm having a bit of trouble dealing with Prot Pally healers in 2s. My partner this season is brand new and is having trouble with what essentially is an anti-priest healer. The one good thing is that I can actually kick their heals since they have to cast unlike the ret/holy pallies who just HS and do instant FoLs.

The big problem is comps with wars, ferals and DKs when I am forced to constantly be peeling. Any advice or help with dealing with these healers would be great.

Don't attack him. Attack his partner and have your priest mana burn him and dispel Divine Plea.

Divine Plea is undispellable as a Protection Paladin.

I'd attack the partner, and make use of the fact that there's no Holy Shock and all of his heals are casts.

I have been doing 2s with a resto druid partner. We're pushing 1600 and as I move up I find myself gouging more and more in order to buy time for my partner, or to pool energy.

My current build is Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

I'm wondering if there is room somewhere to grab 3 points in improved gouge to buy my healer more time? Or would this not be worth the drop in damage. I can either pull it from dual wield spec or heightened senses / dirty deeds.

Have your druid use cyclone after the gouge. Most of the time getting of a cyclone is risky because you get locked out from heals if it is interrupted, but if the DPS is gouged, the druid can freely get of a cyclone. 10s worth of CC on the dps every 30s or so can go a long way towards making your healers life easier.

This. You're not going to be able to kill a restoration druid of equal gear and skill before thorns kills you. Not by a long shot. You can probably postpone it by doing gouge->bandage, and maybe get a bad druid to trinket the gouge and eat a blind later. But without some sort of bandage cheese, you can play perfectly, and all the druid has to do is use lifebloom, rejuvenation, and the occasional wild growth.

Honestly, not even equal skill. I'm pretty positive that I can kill 2400 Rogues if you give me a Druid with like Test Realm gear. I'll just roll HoTs and have Thorns up.

Having trawled through about 15 pages of this thread and not finding what i was looking for I decided to post.
I am currently a running a ret paladin/rogue combination and our 2v2 rating is currently at 1854. My main question is what exactly should i be gemming for, agi or AP. Im currently running with 33.32% crit and 3400 AP, im wondering if i should maybe change some of my Agi gems for AP. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Oh, and here's a link to my armory The World of Warcraft Armory

very strange build but wanted to have it considered

I have been having trouble on my 80 rogue which I should probably change to be listed as my main. There are too many plate wearing classes out there that just wear me down over a long long long fight due to their mitigation. Casters just don't really seem to be a huge problem for rogues. Anyways here is the build I was considering. Its very unconventional but I intend on switching to a healer/rogue comp. The World of Warcraft Armory was wondering if this is even worth trying.

Does anyone now a method or addon which can reliable show the global cool down of another player including latency ? I think that especially in rogue vs. rogue a method showing the time in which the other player cannot do something except moving and using non gcd-based abilities would give an great advantage.
