Darkmoon card: wrath and pvp

So the basic philosophy for counteracting resilience is either to get more crit, or to get more AP/spell damage so you hit for harder. Most people have an AP/spell damage trinket (assuming the 1st slot is the pvp trinket), but what about using a high-effect crit trinket? Burst damage from crits are still deadly in arena (maybe moreso in 4dps teams than classic but important nonetheless). Would the natural scaling nature of the wrath card make it worthwhile to pick it up?

So has anyone tried this card or modeled it for pvp purposes? The card obviously increases its value the lower a player's crit rate gets, which sorta counteracts the effect of resilience. The higher an opposing player's resil, the better this card gets in increasing total and burst dps.

So my question is whether it's valuable for more crit based classes...I'm thinking mages could benefit especially, but other crit classes could as well.

I think it really depends on what is available to you.

Generally though, I favor something I can rely on. Consider for melee:

Dragonspine Trophy
Tsunami Talisman

or..
Bloodlust Brooch, which I can pop when someone is low and lay it on thick.

I agree with the above, while it may have a really high effective crit bonus against high resilience targets, I am not sure it is worth using over an Icon, which is much more controllable.

Another point, unless you're referring to fire mages, is that a much greater portion of my crits come from shatter than just plain nuking. I'm only at around 16% crit without MA, which gets reduced well under 10% against many opponents. Against a frozen target, the trinket's effect diminishes greatly.

I would be disinclined to use the Wrath card: for one thing, it doesn't produce crits in a controllable fashion; for another, your crits are hitting for 25%+ less against well-geared targets. Doesn't seem like a mechanic you want to put much stock into.

I was experimenting as a lock just running around casting Searing Pain and it has an amazingly frustrating tendency to stack high and never resolve before you're bursted down. Also, it assumes you're going to be casting a direct damage spell thats critworthy, which is very much not the case with fear, polymorph, spell-pushback and silence, meaning that high stacks of the buff decay in ten seconds and that happens frequently to casters in an arena.

Blessings deck card is a lot better to have, as it constantly adds to real damage for everything and refreshes/responds to ANY offensive spell, including those that aren't critworthy or even do damage.

The exception to Wrath I find is people you know are going to be casting just a couple spells with great regularity: deep holy priests in particular. Together with Inspiration and Surge of Light (self-refreshes) it can be worthwhile.

For hunters that stack AP it seems like it would be pretty bad ass. I just dont want to pay what people are charging for it as I think pvp trinket + brooch work fine.

The trinket has a max "stack" (I believe it is 10), so it is possible to just never get a crit before you are dead, and you have a wasted trinket slot.

Not a good PvP trinket.
