[Alliance][Trollbane] <Desolation> 10-strict guild looking for healers and DPS

About <Desolation>

<Desolation> is a 10-strict guild (definition at GuildOx), rebuilding a solid core. We tend to get along, help each other out, and take our raiding seriously. We will not tolerate drama or nastiness (including homophobic, racist, or sexist remarks, if meant seriously), but will tease and sometimes use adult language or talk about adult themes. Preference is for applicants to be over the age of 25, but we will consider people over the age of 20 if a member can vouch for your maturity, or you can convince us of your maturity.

We do have our share of "achievement whores," so do spend off-time chasing down some of those achievement points for the guild. We also have a number of people with alternate characters, and will help each other out with leveling and gearing said characters on our off-time.

While we only raid nine hours a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Sundays 9pm-midnight EST, we take said raiding seriously. We expect people to have looked up new fights, and be fully prepared with all consumables and reagents, as well as having all gear properly enchanted and gemmed with the appropriate epic gems before starting raid. You should be on at least 15 minutes prior to raid and all ready, so that we know if we have all spots filled. You are also expected to have a proper raid spec and glyphs. We want people who know their class, and know and understand why their priority system and spec and such is as it is, rather than just doing something blindly because elitistjerks.com told them to. We do not yell at or abuse members for mistakes; rather, we try to find out what went wrong and how we can fix it. Mistakes are fine, but we expect people not to make the same mistakes over and over again.

Loot is handled by a fair loot council. The aim is to gear the raid so that we can have successful progression, rather than to cater to any individual's ego. While we do not play favourites, even for officers and friends, lack of attendance without prior notification, unenchanted/ungemmed gear, or poor attitude can negatively impact what you may get. If you do not take care of the gear you have, there is no compelling reason why we should give you more.

Our focus is ICC10, currently working on Sindragosa; however, we have cleared and may occasionally do ToGC10 on one of our raid nights. We also try to do the weekly raid and VoA10 as a guild, but all other raids are open if you wish to PuG them (with the exception of those prohibited by the 10-strict rules. At the moment that only includes ICC25 and ToGC25.)

About You

We are primarily looking for excellent healers, including a healer/DPS hybrid dual specced person. We would love to have a shaman or disc/holy priest as one of our members, but are open to other classes, provided you know your class, can react well to sudden changes or alternate strategies, and have good situational awareness. We also ask that you have a good enough computer and internet connection that you can be relied upon to be at each raid for the full duration. And while we understand that things come up, if you AFK after every pull, this may not be the home for you.

We are also seeking applications from excellent DPS. A mage or warlock would be very welcome, but honestly, any good examples of other classes, excepting hunters and ret paladins (except as an off-spec for a holy paladin) would be welcome. We do expect DPS to keep an eye on their aggro. You all know what your DPS is when you're lying dead on the floor.

We do not care what your GearScore is. We do expect you to have a mix of at least tier 9/10 level gear, know that sometimes a lower ilvl piece is better for your class and spec, and are of the opinion that how you gem and enchant it will tell us far more about what you know of your class than GearScore ever will.

How to Apply

To apply to <Desolation>, please visit our website, and register. Read the posts in the forum Application Rules - PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING, copy and paste the contents of the post Application Form, and post it in the forum called Applications. Please remember to title your post with your character's name, class, and spec. If you do not include a title, the forum will "eat" the post and you will lose all your hard work.

Please take the application process seriously. More information is better than less, and the more you think out your replies, the fewer questions you will get, and the shorter the process will be. We do not expect you to know everything off the top of your head, but do expect that when you don't know something, that you can look it up at a reputable site. There are some successful and unsuccessful applications in our forums as examples. We also ask that you take the time on your application to express your ideas clearly, without using internet short-forms such as "lol," "u," "ur," and the like. Make a good first impression.

More detailed information is on our website. We look forward to meeting and working with you.
