Grandeur (Grandeur Guild) was formed on release day back in 2004. Originally from Proudmoore, we transferred as a guild from Muradin (a transfer server) to Kilrogg in order to find a more competitive environment to spur our progression. Our focus is 25 man raiding including all possible achievements. We consider successfully completing achievements as simply another form of progression. The challenges of raiding are what we play the game for, and it is our hope that you share our enthusiasm.
We seek to temper our serious attitude towards raiding with a measure of fun. We do not wish to fool anyone into thinking that we are a pressure filled guild that’s aiming to reach the top tiers of worldwide progression, but we take our raiding seriously. If we reach such a plateau, all of us will be understandably thrilled. But it is not the end all and be all of our gaming philosophy.
Grandeur is comprised primarily of working professionals. We have a few casual retired members who fill in on raids when required, but full members trump them for spots except in cases of raid balance or the like. Our guild chat tends to be adult oriented, but rarely runs into the truly NC-17. One thing that must be emphasized is we have no tolerance for drama. If you are the type to carry that with you please understand that there is no faster way to obtain an early exit with us than this.
Kilrogg is a pacific time zone PVE or “normal” ruleset server. According to Wowprogress, it’s currently in the top 20 US servers for progression, ranked 3rd among all PVE servers. The server has a high population, and there are very rare queues on the busiest days. All raids, both 10 and 25, are regularly pugged successfully on the server. Wintergrasp is competitive as the horde/alliance ratio is fairly even.
Our Raid Environment
During progression content, we raid from 6pm to approximately 10pm pacific time (server) Sunday through Thursday. We always take Friday and Saturday off, although you may occasionally find individual members organizing 10 man raids for alts and the like on those days. We take major holidays off as well. When all content is farmed as it mostly is now, we often have at least one extra day off during the week. We expect all members to bring their very best to the raid team. We do not expect perfection, but we do ask that everyone strive for perfection in his or her play.
We track attendance based on time, but loot is awarded via an officer council. Applicants have priority for loot over off-spec gear and alt characters, so you can except to be awarded items if needed as we work on the current farm content. We do encourage all members with alternate specs to take gear sets applicable to those other jobs. We require all members and applicants to be fully gemmed and enchanted at all times. We expect that during progression raids, you will have the best consumables available to your class available. We emphasize that this does mean things like “40/40” food. Firecracker salmon is 10 points better than smoked salmon, so we expect everyone to use “the good stuff” on progression fights and serious achievement attempts.
We are currently farming all standard 25 man content minus Lanathel in ICC. Our focus is on 25 man raiding and we do not actively organize 10 man content during our standard raid hours.
Our current recruiting requirements can be found at Grandeur :: View topic - Grandeur Recruitment Updated - 2/08/2009 . At least, all the technical information is there. What we wish to emphasize though is that while we appreciate geared applicants, what we’re really looking for is skill, focus, and a personality that blends well with the team we have. We can fill in the gaps in your gear without problem. We cannot, however, teach people how not to stand in the fire. Nor can we teach you to be friendly and helpful to others.
We do wish to emphasize a few things, however. Please do not apply if you’re not willing to do some research into your class and spec and learn how to play it the best way possible. You must be willing to do some work outside of raids to maximize the effectiveness of your character. Players who play their alts when their main has Sons of Hodir rep sitting at friendly do neither their guild nor themselves any good. I know most of the players who might frequent this board do not fall into this category, but we think it’s worth mentioning.
