About Us

Clout Mace was formed by officers/raiders from the pre-WOTLK top horde guild on Kilrogg via a difference of opinion on how raiding can be completed. We don't believe in entitlements and guild membership longevity as a pre-requisite to a raiding spot – we believe in skill, effort and a willingness to push yourself each and every night (be it on new content or farm). We don't recruit a "bench", we recruit raiders who we want in every raid as much as we can. We give warnings out if your attendance or your performance is slipping; if you're unable to turn that around in a timely fashion, you will be replaced by someone who can.

We have finished all the content in WOTLK currently (Algalon aside) in addition to alt 10/25 man raids, achieved both Glory of the Raiders several times pre-3.1. We're working on our 25 man raid achievements currently.

Our loot system is based on a loot council – we try very hard to be fair and unbiased. We went to this system after years of trying different DKP systems which ultimately resulted in players playing for points not the overall progression or benefit of the guild.

Clout Mace is located on the Kilrogg-PVE server, which is a PST time server. During progression, we typically raid from Sunday through Thursday, with raids beginning at 7:30pm PST (10:30pm EST, 8:30pm CST) and last approximately 3 hours (max 4 under certain circumstances).

Since Wrath's release we've not raided all those days as the content can be cleared in 1 evening or split into 2, however this will change once Ulduar is released. We don't have nearly as rigid a raid schedule as most top end raiding guilds and if you can't make 90% of the listed times, it's probably best not to bother applying.



About You

We are looking for players who are motivated, analytical and skilled in play as well as mature and fair as players. You also need to have some humility – you will at times be criticized and need to be able to take it. If you think yourself superior to others, please refrain from applying. We're not looking for rude, condescending or selfish players. If drama always seems to surround you – also refrain from applying.

We are not looking for "hired guns" – we want players who will be an integral part of our community for the long haul (i.e.: if you plan on quitting in the next year for any reason we're not interested in you). If you only logon to raid and that's it, we're probably not the right home for you. Our members enjoy the game for what it is – a game. Our members enjoy PVP (both BG and Arena), going after achievements, alts and in general spending time with one another outside of raids – we hope you do as well.

Since you're reviewing this on the Elitist Jerks forums and given their policies here, we assume that obviously you have intelligence on forming posts and/or sentences so we expect as much in your application to us. We're also pleased that you know where to go for good and knowledgeable information on your class.


Class-specific Notes


Regarding the classes we're looking for we currently have a high demand for some mixed dps as well as an additional healer in a holy paladin and also a well rounded DK who can swap between tanking/DPS. The DK tank we'd like to be tank spec most times, but know how to DPS with the best.


We will hold a Ventrillo interview with you as part of the application process (you should be able to converse with us in return, aka use a mic) which will go into more depth about us but more importantly about you, how you play your class and whether we will be a good fit for one another.
