[Alliance][Elune]<Better Part of Valor> (3ni/wk) 8/9, 4/5, Need Lock/Boomkin/Ele Sham

Who we are

Better Part of Valor has been on the Elune server since day 1 of retail, back in November of 2004. Ever since day 1, when we were scrambling to collect 1 gold among about 20 people to turn in our guild charter, the focus of the guild has been the same - to be a guild where the people are more important than the characters, where people feel they are at "home", and to enjoy as much of the game as we can. Fast forward 5 years and you'll find some old faces - a lot of new faces, all participating in a guild whose focus stretches from extreme casual play to a Progression Raiding team that pushes hardmode content. We have crafters, PvPers, altoholics, and people who match any or all of those criteria combined. The achievement system was a huge thing for us, and many of our people have done ridiculous things for achievement points.

We're always on the lookout for more awesome people to play with, and especially people to flesh out the raiding roster. We're currently trying to staff up our raid group for T9 content and the push into Icecrown when it's released. To do so, we're looking for people to fill the following class needs - these are roles we specifically need filled:

Balance Druids
Warlock

We also are very interested in hearing from exceptional applicants in these classes - these are more general roles such as "ranged dps" or "healer" that we could use some more of:

Elemental Shaman

Why you should pick us (or... why not, as the case may be)

BPoV raids 25 man content 3 days a week. Our progression is not absolute cutting edge, but we are proud of our accomplishments. (We've only got Firefighter and Algalon left in Ulduar, and up to Anub'Arak Hard Mode in the Coliseum). We are a group of mature, capable people who value quality of time spent over quantity of time spent. I will try to do my best to value your time spent playing, and each raider is expected to do the same for each other. We're not the group that will smash our heads endlessly on content that is not happening for us, and we don't tend to raid more than 15 minutes past our scheduled end time. If you're looking for a hardcore guild, we're not for you. If you're looking for a place where you can raid, see the content, and have a great time doing it with a bunch of great people, then we might be right for you.

Our raid times are Thursday, Sunday, and Monday of each week. We start at 9:00pm eastern (6:00pm pacific) on Thursday and Monday, and begin an hour earlier (8:00pm eastern, 5:00p pacific) on Sundays. We end at 12:30am eastern (9:30pm pacific) on all 3 nights. 100% attendance isn't strictly required, but I do ask that people are actually normally available on all our raid nights. We try to recruit enough people to have a little bit larger roster so that people who have events or just need a small break can do so without us running the risk of cancelling the raid. If you tell me you're going to miss Sunday's raid because it's your wife's birthday, I'm going to tell you to have a great time - not guilt you into showing up.

Why we should pick you

You should be a mature person with excellent ingame skills. From what I've heard from members after they join, we're somewhat unique in that we're not very fond of pervasive racism, name calling, or other sorts of things - a very large portion of our guild is working professionals who are considerate, helpful, and are just great people. Don't get me wrong, we're not super stodgy, but if you're fond of calling people "downies", you probably won't fit in here. We have no specific rules against younger players, but we don't have too many of them. The ones we do have are a ton of fun and are great, however, but this isn't really a guild that caters to the average high school student.

If you're a DPSer, you should always be striving for the top, have great knowledge of your class and the current theorycraft behind it, know how to put out the numbers, and also how to avoid the many flavors of fire that Blizzard tries to get us to stand in. This doesn't mean "damage is the only thing" - staying alive and not causing issues (threat, blowing people up, etc) are very important as well.

Healers should be passionate about healing, able to work in a team environment and avoid fire with the best of them. Heal meters aren't very important to us, doing your part to make the whole machine work is. If you're last on the meters, but you covered what we asked you to cover, then we're happy.

You should be someone who plays the game and is planning on playing the game for a while - someone who just logs in to raid is someone we won't get to know very well, and likely won't do very well in our guild. We are interested in who you are!

If you're interested in joining BPoV, you can visit our forums at Better Part of Valor (Powered by Invision Power Board) and check out our application process. If you have a question for me, find me ingame (please check to see if I'm in a raid zone first, I don't respond when leading raids), drop me ingame mail, or PM me on either our guild boards or the EJ boards - my name on both of those boards is Shaker.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Consistency. It's only a virtue if you're not a screwup.

Another update - killed Freya +3 and Yogg+1 last night, meaning we only have Firefighter and Algalon left in Ulduar.
