A Bit About <Kudzu>
<Kudzu> is a Serious Casual guild focused on progression raiding, and has been since the launch of the Burning Crusade. Running two days a week with a /roll loot system and no cotton fecal receptors, we went on to clear the expansion's raid content through Brutallus. Shortly thereafter, patch 3.0 hit and everyone shifted focus to preparing for Lich King.
At the launch of WotLK, we quickly leveled to 80 and steamrolled the available content. The Purple Maiden was running full force towards Lootsville, but something was wrong. Every encounter felt like Shade of Akama, which left us feeling pretty dissatisfied; and the promise of new content was months away. Disappointment and apathy set in, and a majority of the guild took an extended break.
When 3.2 splashed down, our guild saw a tremendous revival. We had two new raids to enjoy. Hard Mode encounters had proven to be a genuine challenge and a success with the raiding community. A new arena season was underway. People were juiced up. They wanted skulls for the purpose of cracking. Unfortunately, our return coincided with the realization that our bottom-ten disaster server had hit even lower depths. So, here we are, hoping to offer players what we feel is a more rare approach to progression raiding on a larger, more developed server.
It should be noted that we are in a bit of a transition period. Our previous server was not kind enough to provide us with the type of people we want in our guild. This kept us under staffed, behind the curve, and focused on 10-mans through 3.1 and the beginning of 3.2. We are confident, however, in our abilities to rebuild and maintain a strong 25-man raiding core for ICC. (And we're not exactly too far off from that, anyway.)
Update: Our efforts to recruit like-minded, serious casual players saw a pretty astounding response. I'd say we've officially crossed over into "riding dirty" territory. We could still use a few solid bodies, though!
Update, Pt. 2: As is to be expected, life happens and interests change. We've lost some bodies to attrition, and a few people have had some major life changes (e.g. babies, post-doc evaluations). So, we currently have raid slots available for all classes and specs.
The Pitch
All kidding aside, we're a guild that understands the draw of real life. Most of us are up to our necks in some combo of graduate studies, wives, children, and professional careers, but can't avoid the lure of dragon slaying. We take our classes, raid roles and guild seriously, but not enough to lose sight of personal priorities. We appreciate having a GM that doesn't tell you how much more he liked you when you didn't have a job/girlfriend/contact with UV rays.
If you think you might be interested in a not-so-serious but totally serious approach to monster killing, head on over to
our website. In the "Join Kudzu" forum, you'll find a couple of stickies with more information about the guild, our general philosophies, and how to apply.
We are always happy to entertain applications for any class/spec, though players that fall outside of our current "needs" will be be expected to provide an exceptional case for their admittance. That being said, we are particularly interested in hearing from:
Tanks tanks and more tanks. That said:
We currently have raiding slots available for all classes and specs.
That all been said, I'm happy to address any questions via PM on these or my guild's forums. Thanks for your time. Hope to hear from some of you soon.
