I don't have an equation but an answer: 2H weapon spec is better point for point than Bladed Armor

Is the DK threat bug that was supposedly hotfixed still in the game? Last night on patch, our Tank DK who was of course in frost presence could not generate threat at any higher of a ratio than the DPS DK:
Bugged DK tank:
WoW Meter Online - Combatlog Replay in Engrish
Non bugged DPS DK:
http://www.wowmeteronline.com/combat...4373748#threat
Non bugged DK tank:
http://www.wowmeteronline.com/combat...0558219#threat
For each one, simply divide the total threat for an ability by the damage done... you'll see that our bugged tank and our DPS DK have the exact same threat to damage ratio, while the DK tank at the bottom is generating threat at the proper rate.
Now, has this happened to anyone else since the "hotfix"?

I had it happen to me as well, was on patchwerk 25man. Threat was such an issue that we had to cycle Tricks and MD on me to keep me ahead.

I've noticed the same thing. It usually happens when I wait to use the Death Runes though. I've also noticed the bug where Death Runes are not generated when using BS. Not sure though if BB is affected by the same bug as none of my rotations incorporate it.

After a certain amount of time, Death Runes convert to Blood runes.
-Answering an earlier question-
In 3.1, with the HB glyph you don't need to cast IT anymore to get the haste buff.

I've been experiencing the change back (from DR to BR) within seconds of the activation, grossly premature of the 20 seconds or so that they need to revert back to BRs of their own accord.

Same here. The death runes would convert back to blood within 5 ~ 10 seconds of using BB. This never happened till a few weeks ago so I was wondering if it was a newly introduced bug.

Yes, it would probably be a good idea to at least take tanking items that you get along the way. Plus taking the specific 1 point tanking talents deep in each tree (Bone shield and such) would also help a lot

I have searched and searched and I hear different theories on the hitcap for a DW DPS DK 32/39. Some folks say that you need to stay close to 24% or close to it like a rogue and others say to go with 295.11. In different tests I have used up to a maximum of 413 hit rating which is equivalent to some 13% if remember correctly.
So my question is, what is the DW hit cap for a fast/fast weapon combo and a 32/39 build? By ideal i mean like what will punch out the best DPS?

Whatever ends up getting you to the spell hit cap (11% spellhit with 3/3 Virulence). If I recall correctly, it's somewhere in the neighborhood of 290 hit or so.

What is the DW hit cap for a fast/fast weapon combo and a 32/39 build
With Nerf of Cold Steel/Virulence :
Strike cap : 5 % or 164 Hit rating
Spell cap : 11% or 289 Hit rating
White hit cap : 24% or 786 Hit rating
what will punch out the best DPS?
If the question is when do I put Strength gem in place of Hit gem ? I suggest you to download one of the available spreadsheet to double-check but I would say always gem for strength.

Hello, i just started playing WoW again after a long break, and my Death Knight is only up to level 65. However i do have a question, my character potrait icon frequently changes from time to time; the potrait icon that appears on top left corner of WoW interface. The icon changes from the regualr icon (tauren head) to a ghostly figure with blue eyes, just to clarify, this is just a special effect ? Thank you.

In guild chat, I got into an argument with another DK over the idea of multiple DK's of the same spec in a group. He stated with a certainty that bothered me that it was a "well known problem". My search-fu is weak apparently then, as I am unable to uncover any evidence of this "problem". The only related thing I've found is specifically one talented disease being bugged, and not crediting every DK that put it up, only most recent one (if I remember correctly)
Also stated in same conversation by same DK, there is some kind of synergy with using DK's of different specs together?
I've tried reading up around here, around a couple other sites, and don't see any evidence of either "fact". Is this actually an issue, and my search-fu is weak, or is he wrong?

Ebon Plaguebringer does not stack on live, thus if 2 unholy death knights are in the same raid, one is only going to get 2 diseases instead of 3. And considering scourge strike, plague strike, blood caked blades all scale with the number of diseases you have, whoever has only 2 diseases will do severely lowered damage than the other death knight. However, I believe this problem is fixed next patch. So you shouldn't have 2 unholy death knights in the same raid on live, but it is OK when the patch comes later.

Frost tank rotations for 3.1, questions
I have several questions about new frost tank (!) rotations in 3.1, but to make myself clear I'll need to list some assumptions and rotations first.
Assumptions:
1. Blood Boil needs only one disease (FF or BP) to do its maximum damage.
2. Howling Blast's damage is increased if FF is on the target, because of Glacier Rot and Tundra Stalker.
3. Howling Blast does not benefit from Plague Strike/Blood Plague on the target.
If these assumptions hold, add these remarks:
4. Use Glyph of Howling Blast to infect targets with FF
5. No need to talent Epidemic, HB would refresh FF every 10sec rotation
Rotations:
AoE:
Start: DnD -> HC* -> HB -> BB
Rotation 1: OB -> BB -> HB -> BB
Rotation 2: DnD -> HB -> BB (or just repeat Rotation 1)
*: Hungering Cold, with available RP, could be used to apply FF, the first HB would do more damage this way.
Single-target:
Rotation 1: HB -> OB -> BS -> BS
Rotation 2: HB -> OB -> OB (or OBx3 with Epidemic)
Questions:
- Are Assumptions (1 to 3) valid?
- The AoE rotation seems less of a hassle than standard IT+PS+Pest, but could it do more damage? Note that it would most likely give more 'snap' threat. It also seems easier to weave in more DnDs during combat (using Morbidity). As far as I know, DnD is still the best threat-per-rune ability, even single-target.
- For single-target threat, does a 1-disease Obliterate hit hard enough? Would IT+PS be better on single-target than HB?
- For single-target threat, because of lack of IT (and therefore Glyph of Icy Touch) and a lot of multi-rune attacks, would this rotation generate enough RP? (Maybe take Scent of Blood to compensate? And Glyph of Frost Strike?)
- Rime-procs (on Obliterate) would not allow for an HB immediately after, as it would screw the rotations. However, the HB in your next rotation would be free, allowing for another OB, which would be interesting in case of single-target. Would this be proper usage of Rime?
I apologise if any of the above questions have been answered before.

Hello,
For tanking in 3.1, I see a lot of frost build who take Killing Machine. Assuming you want to provide Imp. Icy Talons, how does KM compare with 2H Specialization, or Virulence (under the cap)?

From the TTT:

Runes are the primary resource mechanic for Death Knights. It's a very new concept (somewhat) that can be compared to Energy. Runes have a set regeneration period, which is 10 seconds. A Death Knight starts with 2 Blood Runes (B), 2 Frost Runes (F) and 2 Unholy Runes (U).
It was always assumed that Runes just had a pure 10 second regen time. This has proven to be false from various tests. The behaviour that has been noted is that after the first set of runes very often runes regen after 8 seconds. The current concensus is the following:
Runes have a 10 second regen time. However, if you do not use your regenerated rune as soon as it comes up, it will activate a timer (up to 2 seconds, is the current theory) which will count as the Rune being used. Think of it like this:
Time Ability Regen time Runes
00:00:00 Icy Touch BBFUU
00:10:00 10s BBFFUU
00:11:50 Icy Touch BBFUU
00:20:00 8.5s BBFFUU
Because you waited 1.5s after the rune was available to use the second frost rune, it's regen time was reduced to 8.5s. Do note, if you wait longer than 2 seconds the above does not apply.

I didn't find any coverage on this except the warrior forum, but maybe I'm just incompetent.
Anyway, with Haste still being at the bottom of desired buffs, my question is: Use Haste Potion or use Insane Strength Pot (i think).
It basically would be 500 Haste vs. 120 Str and -70Def. I could care less for the 70 Def less, but 500 vs 240 AP scaling with BoK... Maybe someone could give me the math on that?

Anyone have thoughts about Mirror of Truth vs Fury of the Five Flights (assuming Greatness card as other trinket)? I've read mirror is better, maybe switch between mirror when you aren't going to have a full of Fury up the whole time and Fury otherwise, or just Mirror at all times?
