Thanks for your opinion, anyway I'm still missing knights of the ebon blade (totally neglected them since they didn't offer anything for tanks) so I'll be running some more heroics netting me badges to spend on the dps trinket and sigil; I could also get some drops included in the list.

Very nice advice on the wowhead tool, at this point of the game I didn't feel the need for a comparing tool since most of the things you get in heroics or with badges are straight upgrades from what you have.

I have to disagree strongly with some of your omissions. As others have said, Cloak of Bloodied Waters is, IMO, a lot better than both the cloaks you listed as well as easier to get. I frequently see them under 200g on the auction house. Next Sword of Justice from H HoS is quite a bit better than Runeblade, yet you omit it, why?

Finally all the lists are omitting the various raid BoE items (though the 60 Valor bracers are mentioned...which I have seen sold for 2k on my server incidentally). I have seen several Zeliek's gauntlets on the Auction House for under 2k and they're substantially better than any listed here. (Not to mention the ring from EoE 10, trinkets, etc.)

My comment about Bloodied Waters was in response to Methy's dream list. I'm not sure how Wowhead lists it but based on the comments there, I think it is undervalued. I've done some rudimentary testing with it and it doesn't share a cooldown with Mirror of Truth. It's hard to see the difference, but here are my results from basic testing on a target dummy:

It's not terrible, but I think [Chuchu's Tiny Box of Horrors] even beats it slightly. [Crusader's Locket] does so handily, if you're short of the expertise cap.

Agreed, don't know why I skipped that one, it's pretty excellent. But don't be a dick to your tank, he's probably running H.UP solely for this sword..

In all fairness, I tested [Chuchu's Tiny Box of Horrors] at the same time and found for my character, the Anvil is better. I got a .98PPM with a 45s cooldown and in my testing, I averaged 16.36% uptime. From my tests, I rank the trinkets like this using 1crit rating = 1.0207AP from Method's table (linked here):

Anvil = 135.6 (0 static, 135.6AP avg from proc)
Mirror = 166.3 (84crit static, 80.6 avg from proc)
Chuchu = 102.1 (53 static, 48.1 avg crit rating from proc)
Crusader = 106 (I couldn't even guess how to calculate the benifit from an expertise proc but I'd bet it's low)

All of my testing was done without haste effects auto-attacking against a target dummy with a two hander for an hour. Comparing them in a raid setting where you will be much closer to hitting every cooldown I think it would probably look more like this:
Anvil = (10/51)*1000 = 196 AP
Mirror = 84cr + ((10/62)*1000) = 247 AP
Chuchu = 53 + (10/45)*258)cr = 111.5 AP

Actually, if you're spending 40 emblems of heroism, you should consider [Jorach's Crocolisk Skin Belt]. The plate belt has slightly more AP if you get either a strength multiplier or bladed armor (the flat 58 STR is equivalent to 116 AP on the leather belt). The big deal is that the leather belt has expertise whereas the plate belt has haste. It's really a close call, but the leather seems to have marginally better DPS stats, if you can get behind wearing leather gear. But in either case, Keristrasa's belt is really worth farming H-Nexus for.

Please consider adding the following items to the list:
Chest:
Whalebone Carapace - Kalu'ak Honored

2H Polearm:
Whale-Stick Harpoon - Kalu'ak Revered

By far the easiest faction to gain without running heroics; revered is almost possible to achieve without a single daily run.

Both I believe are better than available quest gear and are great for those about to start heroics.

Sidenote: the other Kalu'ak plate chest is a great starter tank item for those looking to switch hit.

I like the Keystone Great-Ring. i know it has defense crap on it, but with Str and bladed armor, it's a nice little bonus. Drops from the Prophet in H DTK

Firstly thank you for making this thread and list, for me personally it has been a fantastic help.
I was wondering though, since I myself am on the hunt for pre-raid gear for my DK, would you say that [Snake Den Spaulders]qualify for the list of shoulder piece options? I ask this mainly because it's what I'm using now, and have been having some serious troubles finding willing groups for regular HoL. It would be nice to know if I am ok with what I have, or whether I need to keep plugging away at the LFG channel. Best regards.

They're not bad, but you do lose a red socket to a yellow one (less STR) and the hit rating on the other shoulders is more valuable than haste rating.
The thing is the HoL ones are the best you can get pre-raid so unless you plan on going raiding straight away you might aswell just go and get them.

edit: It all depends what you strive for, of course they will be good enough to dps, but if you want to maximize your dps then no they're not the best you could get

Thanks for the quick reply Skurd. I had taken all these things into account, and I know that the Shoulders of the Lightning Revenant are by and large superior in almost every way, and I am trying to get them, but the problem is that for some reason people on my server seem to avoid RegHoL like it's harboring a plague. It's next to impossible to get a run there unless it's with friends.
I guess what I'm saying is; Yes 'Revenant are better, but will what I have now serve me well enough without them. That's what it boils down to.

A valuable addition to the list of gloves is [Fists of Loken], especially if you are solid on hit. Drops off of normal Loken, you may even get it if you instance while you level.

I have been pretty disappointed with the lack of DPS plate gloves.

Obviously I have been trying to get a replacement for mine but I pretty much have to rely on drops unless I want to do the quest for the CoS gloves which I am leaning towards.

Would the [First Mate's Pocketwatch] be a decent trinket you might consider adding to the list of Pre-Raid Items? It's attainable at the end of a three-part chain quest in the Howling Fjord area.

Perhaps a weapon that should be added to the list is [Greatsword of the Sin'dorei] for horde or [Claymore of the Prophet] for the alliance. Just a little bit of daily grinding and you can get it.

Choker of the betrayal (ZD drakuru quest) is statwise better than that dagger JC neck, so if you have that one then maybe include the choker as well?
