We have our seperate threads for theory crafting each of our three potential DPS trees and the variants that belong to them. This patch has changed a lot of that, as a community I think we need to pool our resources and find out what is going to become the best DPS spec. Granted some people will and are going to argue raid utility, fine, I realize that we are awesome at providing CoE /EP to a large group of enemies and if your the only DK in the group you may not have a choice, for the rest of the community that runs with more than one here's what I propose!

1) Link your spec and your rotation
2) Link your WWS or Wowmeters (Please include Patchwork! This is the best potential benchmark for determining standardized DPS)
3) Label any outlying factors affecting your DPS.
These include:
"I accidentally taunted and died half way through the fight"
"Hit garg with Blood Fury, Trinket and rune forge proc"
"I did not rune forge my weapon because I just got an upgrade the last fight"
"I am new to this spec my rotation is sloppy"
4) Link your weapons and your rune forge enchants (Include your Sigil)
5) Please note if it is a 10 or 25man

I will update this as much as I from as many DPS reports i can find. I wanted to create a page that can quickly compare our various DPS specs to see what each one is capable of, without needing to open four different windows to view each separate trees theory crafting.

I was raiding with an Unholy DK so no 3rd disease.
What hurt my DPS most is that I died early at ~40% while Heroism was just popped and Merciless Combat didn't affect my abilities yet. Due to stopping to count my DPS when I stop dealing damage and my 18 second diseases, my actual DPS also went down quite a bit after I died, I was at a constant ~5900 before I died.

Aotd was cast just before/during pull, I was using /cancelaura Freezing Fog macros for both Icy Touch and Howling Blast.
Rotation was PS, IT, BS, BS, HB, RP dump, PS, IT, IT, IT, HB, RP dump. The rp dump obviously being frost strike. I decided against using Obliterate due to impurity and the fact i have yet to receive a sigil of awareness (and of course oblit being bugged atm and not generating rp). Gargoyle was used after heroism and during a Unholy Strength proc.

Standard 2H Unholy rotation. My weapon is [Betrayer of Humanity] with Rune of the Fallen Crusader and [Sigil of Awareness]. Army of the Dead on pull, used Insane Strength Potion before I popped my Gargoyle. Unfortunately, I don't have a Nobles deck or a clicky +AP trinket to use prior to summoning my Gargoyle. DPS dropped by approximately 300 due to the Gargoyle changes.

This doesn't include AotD but does include the Ghoul. Army did 80,782 damage to Patch so if you add it to total damage and go by my given dps time it shows as 6020. Army was channeled as he was pulled so I don't know why it calculates dps time as being so off from total fight time (3'09 dps time to 3'24 fight time) but if you put it at total fight time its 5578 which is roughly equal to what WWS posted. This was my first Naxx run as UH since hitting 80 and I'm fairly pleased with the results. It should also be noted that this was 20 manned so fight time was longer

Also the WWS appears to be giving me someone else's Gargoyle, and misses out the dps from my risen ghoul. Even so, recount showed about 4.5k dps.

Note: I've noticed that if I use NotD before I actually swing at a boss, they do not show up in WWS. Something to look into perhaps. EDIT: I've registered with Wowmeter, i'll run my next naxx25 using that and hopefully provide a comparison between it and WWS to show ghoul and AoTD.

It seems that the standard 17/0/54 Unholy will continue to remain on top for 2H and 32/39 variants for DW. With the released proposed changes comming in 3.1 the community has much more theory crafting ahead of us, and I appreciate the enthusiasm of all the posts and WWS that were made available.

This may not be a 100% accurate representation yet because not every guild has raided, but it seems like various Frost and Unholy builds are still topping the charts. Within those specs are 0/32/39, 0/44/27, and the standard 17/0/54. Going through each person's specs and armories, it seems like there's a lot of room for flexibility. Blood, however, still seems behind in terms of overall success. Either that or no one has bothered to try yet.

EDIT:

Another interesting find. There is talk in the Blood forum about a 51/0/20 disease-less rotation, and I have found two Death Knights with decent DPS using such a rotation. Armory them: Etiquette and Eimu.

I tried various 2h specs after patch against boss dummy (with exact same gear, not using army of dead and non-specced ghoul).

Standard 51/13/7 blood build I was doing around 2400 dps on average with starter sigil, obliterate didn't give RP. (had obliterate glyph which I dont have atm)
Diseaseless 51/0/20 I did around 2250dps with necrosis doing almost 0 damage
Unholy 17/0/54 build I dps was between 2300-2500. (necrosis giving low damage too)
I didn't test frost builds due obliterate and frost strike issues yet.

Couple flaws in my testing was not to set same time for each test and not setting up optimal glyphs for different builds. However at least being self buffed there wasn't significant difference between those 3 specs. Unholy still seemed to be more or less solid 100dps higher but it's rotation is simpler for me at least and aoe is still by far highest on unholy spec.

Going to make bit better test setup at weekend with 3 or 5min limit on fights (+ getting proper glyphs/sigils for each spec) and hoping to get 2nd epic 1 hander to compare those 2 popular dw builds. Patchy testing would be better but would take bit long to test all specs against him...

While I agree that Patchy is good boss to test against but people posting various wws/recount logs with different gear and raid setups won't be helpfull unless figures with similar setups are being significant. Testing against dummy is more controlled and various rotations/specs are easier to compare even dummy has it own limitations (necrosis, raid buff scaling etc.)

Special notes: My gear is pretty bad compared to the rest of the raid. I still have a rare helmet and only 1 t7,5 part, but the dmg seems very strong!

I'd love to know when and what those people use to dump runing power too... DRW, Gargoyle, etc.

I'll do 25-men patchwerk tonight on my DK and I can't wait to see the DPS it will do.

Obviously not 5k since i still have a few blues, but still...
