I'm fairly sure that this is a bug... don't know why the EP for hit would be so low all of a sudden, especially when I'm so far away from the cap. (Was trying to determine whether or not to use Grim Toll or DMC:G)

EP value of hit rating is not dependent of the hit you have on your character. The sim force to your character to melee hit cap, then remove 50 and see how much DPS you lost. However your result are very strange. Here is what i've got:

I am now at the point where armor pen has a higher ep value than strength. I am thinking of changing out some strength gems for armor pen gems, however I would rather sim the differences between each gem before I switch them out.

My question is: how do I change my stats in the character editor to reflect a gem change? Is it as simple as changing the numbers to 20 strength less and 20 armor pen more? Or is there other numbers I must change that are affected by the stat change?

As you said, deduct 20 strenght and add 20 armor penetration is the way to do it. Just remember that if you swap other gems then red to red, you could affect gem bonuses.

Trying to figure out the EP ratings for hit, more specifically hit after 8% for DW builds.

BeforeMeleeHitCap<8% | 2.52
EP SpellHitRating | 0.57
After spell hit cap | 0.65

Whats the difference from EP SpellHitRating and spellhit after cap? I assume hit before cap is the first one, and after is the third, what is the middle one? Also, after cap, is that taken in account that you're using Dw?

BeforeMeleeHitCap: Hit rating until you reach 8% melee hit.
EP SpellHitRating: Hit rating until spells never miss.
After spell hit cap: Hit rating until dual-wield autoattacks always hit.

First of all thanks for this awesome tool Kahorie, it's been very valuable as a means of evaluating upgrades.

I recently installed 1.2.0.6 (moved from 1.2.0.3), and since have been getting very low EP values for expertise (~0.8 AP). I know this isn't correct, because my Exp is currently a bit low, only 117 rating. Dropping much more than this and I'll probably start to see a decent chance of more than 1 dodge per rotation, which starts to eat into dps quite a bit.

I know others have had issues with expertise in particular, but does anyone have suggestions on possible fixes? Changing RNG seed doesn't seem to make any difference, maybe I need a longer sim time? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Possible bug. If I spec into Imp Icy Talons in an otherwise ordinary tank spec, run sim, then do it again with the 'melee haste' buff on in Buffs section, I get different results. I'd have thought one or the other would be used, so there'd be no variation.

Raid buff given by the player are not implemented. Imp Icy Talons is only a 5% haste buff for the player, if you want the 20% it's in the buff section. You can add in the same bag: Abomination's Might, Horn and EbonPlague Bringer.

Just a reminder to posters who are thinking of gemming arp over str.
1) Any fight with more then 1 add you lose dps. Arp doesnt effect aoe abilities.
2) When you generate EP values that tell you arp is better then str, you need to remember you did so with str gems currently in your gear. So what you really need to do is simulate yourself with all the str you are getting from gems subtracted out.

First things first - thanks for the awesome simulator!

I am new to this program and I want to make sure I have the rotation right. I am trying to simulate using the rotation without reaping found in the Unholy DPS thread:
PS – IT – BS – SS – BS – DC – HoW - SS – BS – SS – BS – DC – DC

I copied one of the rotation .xml files and edited it with this. Is this correct for my rotation?

From what I can tell, PS>IT>SS>BS>BS>DC>HOW>SS>SS>BS>BS>DC>DC is better dps for unholy without reaping.

Strangely:
if I have a frost build with IITalons but melee haste turned off (in raid buffs): 4877 tps, and mainhand 9.1% of total damage
same spec with melee haste turned on: 5004 tps, mainhand 11.5%
spec without IITalons and melee haste off: 5077 tps, mainhand 7.9%

Since IIT is a 25% melee haste buff for yourself, and 20% haste for the raid, but looks like you've implemented it as if 45% haste is applied to your own mainhand. I had thought they were not additive, so the net haste for the DK was only 25%?

Can't get in-game to verify right now.

I guess it come from Rune Strike. I have test in blood presence:
  Hit count
With IIT, With Haste buff 1369
Without IIT, With Haste buff 1319
With IIT, Without Haste buff 1168
Without IIT, Without Haste buff 1118

The difference between hit count is the same (50).
