Druid Forums for Cataclysm
 

I am looking for some brave souls to author lead posts going into Cataclysm. I won't sugar-coat it, the task is not an easy one. I am planning to start new threads whenever a major content patch hits, so volunteering for the first round does not put you on the hook for the entire expansion. It is ideal that someone with time and very into theory-crafting take up these positions, but failing that we'll do the best with what we've got.

As it stands I don't think it makes tremendous sense to separate things TOO much, but I have this general structure in mind for our Cataclysm layout.

Druid Forum FAQ - similar to our current one giving links to other threads, general forum conduct, etc.

I will start these when Cataclysm goes live and lock the current thread. It makes sense to split this up, I've personally found the current layout to be somewhat annoying as someone who knows Resto fairly well, Moonkin passably, and Feral, well Gurgthock doesn't let me ever raid as feral and there is probably a good reason for that. ;)

I think we are long past the point where cats and bears should be grouped into one thread. We will split them up for Cataclysm since they really do perform 2 entirely different roles. Hopefully we have enough authors to make this possible.

Additionally I would be interested in starting up encounter-oriented threads. If we use the current expansion as an example:

[Resto] Heroics (closed when Naxx opens)
[Resto] Naxxramas/Malygos/OS (closed when Ulduar opens)
[Resto] Ulduar (closed when ICC opens)
[Resto] ICC (closed when open beta is up)

These won't need a sweet lead post, I'll open/close for each spec throughout the expansion. These will be a place to discuss encounter-specific glyphs, positioning, gear swaps, play-style, spell-selection, etc. These WILL NOTbe raid strat posts and will be limited to how a druid functions on a certain encounter performing a certain role.


I am leaving this open for feedback. If you think I've missed a thread that would be sweet to have, I'm all ears. I'm definitely fine with spreadsheet specific threads during Cata (ex. Hamlet's Tree/Moonkin spreadsheets) for feedback specifically pertaining to them.

Basically, I'd like community input on the layout and I'd like for folks interested in stepping up to get in touch with me either in this thread or via PM. We will definitely be tagging threads by spec where appropriate [Resto] [Cat] etc. I think a naming convention will make the forum more easy to search for newer members to our community.
