I'm not 100% sure if specific abilities from these bosses trigger OF, but these bosses have AoE damage that seems to me that would proc it:

Omnitron, Atramedes, Chimaeron, Nefarian, Conclave, Al'akir, Argaloth. That's 7/12. At 80 it was questionable to get OF, with more points it's a staple. There's no reason not to get it.

YouTube - Arythorn's Channel is a pretty good resource from what I can tell.

I actually just took those out of the big Balance guide, due to variation with Dark Intent and Nature's Grace, as well being generally unimportant for gearing anyway. You can check WC for the list for any particular setup, or compute any specific one you need: http://elitistjerks.com/blogs/1152-h...e_breakpoints/

I've been wondering the same thing. From my understanding, dots' damage are based on your stats at the time they are cast. With that in mind, I would assume that they should be refreshed at the start of an eclipse to gain the extra damage. Is that correct?

Also, I have a question about Rawr. Its telling me to reforge haste to mastery. Can that be right? From what I've read haste>mastery. Is Rawr valuing mastery over haste due to the fact that I'm not close to a haste break point? How accurate is Rawr and should it be followed down to a t?

Clipping DoTs is always bad. The only times you should clip DoTs are; During Lunar shower spam, about to enter an incapacitated phase ie Halfus Furious roar and when you're about to exit an Eclipse state and either DoT has <4seconds left.
When entering an Eclipse state it doesn't matter if you put up Eclipse buffed DoTs right away, just so long as you do it some time during the buff. Things get hazey during Hero/Lust because you move between each proc so quickly and TBH, I don't know what exactly to do to get maximum benefit.

Make sure you have the right options checked for Rawr (Going OoM because of fight length can alter perceived values; Mastery adds mana free DPS, Haste has the opposite effect), Haste should always be ahead of Mastery; The breakpoints don't alter stat values significantly. Like with any tools, use your best judgment and as always, use them as guideline and not a definitive answer source.

I normally play resto, but my guild likes to make me go boomkin on some fights. Lately I've been put on dps duty on our Maloriak 25 hc kills, and I'm a bit unsure how to handle that fight.

During the dark phase, I usually just makes sure to be in solar eclipse and spam MF/IS on all the adds, pop starfall, detonate some pre-set shrooms and a few instant starsurges (just enough to keep me in solar eclipse for the entire phase). While this works just fine for me, usually at 23-25k dps, I was wondering - is this the best way? WM seems to do a ton of damage, would it be better to put up sunfire on the adds (ignoring IS completely) and then set up 3xWM and detonate? Then refresh/reapply sunfire and repeat. Or is there some even better rotation?

I've tried a few different approaches, but with the random movement, me messing up rotations since I'm not really used to moonkin spec and me tab-targeting to the same damn mob all the time it's really hard to tell what makes a difference or not. Any pointers how to handle this fight would be appreciated!

Yep, that sounds like pretty much the right thing. Not sure if you're doing this already, but if you pop starfall right away you usually will get another one in before they're all dead. And of course make sure you're maintaining your Lunar Shower stacks.

Personally I find that phase kind of annoying. Trying to target with v-bars is obnoxious because either they're all overlapping, or they're flying around wildly as the v-bar packing code goes nuts. And as you point out, tab-targeting often gives you the unit that you just had selected, rather than cycling through all the units as you'd hope it would.

For Maloriak's black phase I recommend binding "target previous enemy" to mousewheel up or mousewheel down. Also bind moonfire/sunfire to a button that you can use while freely using all your movement keys (I use space). "Target previous enemy" WILL NOT target the vile swills automatically if you are targeting the boss, but if you target one of them by clicking, you will then cycle through them as you scroll on your wheel*. A good "rotation" I think is to first sunfire all the adds, then use mushrooms, followed by insect swarming all adds, mushrooms, refreshing sunfire, mushrooms, refreshing insect swarm. You get the picture. Using 5 GCDs in between each detonate will of course mean that mushrooms won't be used completely optimally, but on the other hand, it ensure that you always have complete dot coverage.

*I have target nearest enemy on wheel up and target previous on wheel down. This seems to reliable allow me to scroll back and forth through enemies, making it much easier to multidot while maintaining lunar shower.

I use Tidyplates(Grey DPS setup) with the "Show short debuffs" box ticked. This basically puts a DoT timer above each individual mob. It gets a bit screwy when you DoT more that 6+ mobs with the same name, but it's pretty good for Maloriak black phase.

I don't really have a way to test this until January.
This is a macro I use for trinkets when I apply Insect Swarm (IS). Since you're usually refreshing IS when Eclipse happens, this macro works no matter which Moonfire/Sunfire is up/active.

#showtooltip Insect Swarm
/script UIErrorsFrame:UnregisterEvent("UI_ERROR_MESSAGE");
/console Sound_EnableSFX 0
/use 13
/use 10
/use 14
/cast Insect Swarm
/console Sound_EnableSFX 1
/script UIErrorsFrame:RegisterEvent("UI_ERROR_MESSAGE");
The /use 10 is in there for glove enchants since I'm an engineer and Synapse Springs has a 1-minute cooldown.

PlateBuffs works pretty well too, it plugged in cleanly with caelNamePlates.

Fréddie: Thanks for the "target previous enemy" tip.

This post is about trinkets with procs. My question is if I'm looking at this rationally.

Given roughly the same average stat value, I favor trinkets with static value (alchemy stone in this case) over trinkets with large procs such as mirror(359), stump, bell, etc. My rationale for this is that since berserking is our only haste cooldown, we have very limited opportunity to create synergy between a +dmg proc, and a haste effect.

Our rotation also carries on as normal even if we proc an additional 2000 spell power, right? So, the best we can hope for is to not mess up our rotation during the proc, and end up with a benefit that is uptime_of_proc*proc_size, the product of which will be identical to a static trinket of the same value. A static trinket then has the advantage of always being there if there's a specific part of the fight where the boss or adds take additional damage, or where you have the opportunity to enter a higher damage multi dot rotation for a period of time. For example, two proc trinkets could very well be on cooldown during the entire Exposed Head phase of Magmaw, green phase of Maloriak, when you stand in the puddle of ODS, etc, greatly diminishing their value compared to 2 static trinkets of similar average power.

Does this make sense?

PS.
Does synchronized use of Heart of Ignacious with the proc of DMC:V increase the value of HoI (372) compared to Mirror (372) or will those two cooldowns not line up properly?

I have a question about trinkets as well.

I have DMC:V and Theralion's Mirror 359.

Atramedes HC dropped Bell of Enraging Resonance 372.

I've been pondering and come to the conclusion that the static in outweighs the crit and SP bonus.

Am I wrong? Shoul I be using the Bell instead of the Mirror?

Mirror 359 vs Bell 372 is a really though call in single-target damage fights.
Fortunately, most fights have two or more enemies where you will apply eclipsed dots on the second target increasing the value of mastery greatly (and the value of crit a little). Thus Mirror wins in those situations. (omnotron, nef,v&t,council)
And especially if you spam sunfire or (eclipsed) mushrooms it becomes a no-brainer. (halfus, maloriak, atramedes, alakir p2,chogall)

Is having a DoT uptime of >90% normal? I'm finding that breaking past 90% consistently is proving really difficult.
