I was messing around with gear imports in my own (priest) spreadsheet and noticed little discrepancies in stat values after I imported my own character. I also tested it with a guildies resto druid gear in WrathCalcs and the same error happens. Since this is the only version of spreadsheet from you guys where upgrades work, which are the cause for the small errors, I thought I would ask here.
For example the upgraded version of Drape of Gathering Clouds (517) will be at 828 int with the formula WrathCalcs and my spreadsheet are using when it actually has 829 ingame.
These errors are caused by rounding issues and I've tried different ways to fix them (rounding to 0 places, rounding down to 0 places, adjusting the upgrade modifier, 1.009363, slightly) and neither has resulted in exact values for all items. When I used rounding to 0 places, some items were rounded up falsely and some rounded down falsely, which leads me to believe that the upgrade modifier is most likely inaccurate.
Do you have any idea how to fix this issue? I know that 1 int or crit or w/e will not make any noticeable difference in terms of actual dps/hps, its just an error I've come across that is slightly bugging me and that I would like to eliminate.
Thanks in advance.
There are only 10 types of people... those who understand binary and those who don't.
This is basically down to rounding as we reach the upgraded values through using a multiplier on the previous item, which would appear to have been multiplied up from base values in whatever tool Blizzard use to create items (as far as I can tell). We'd need to list out every single item, along with every single possible upgrade to avoid it under the current layout.
Last time I checked Wowhead hadn't implemented the upgraded values in XML, so it'd need to be either be done by hand or totally rework the way the sheet is set up/the way gear is imported and I honestly just don't have the time to do it. If upgrades return in 5.3, I'll revamp the whole thing and import gear stats directly from the Armory.
The wording on it makes it sound like it only works on sha touched and weapons from the throne of thunder.
This is correct, you cannot add an Eye to a non Sha Touched weapon, but we can add them to all Throne weapons. Blue confirmed this a while back (at least a month now), too lazy to try and find it. They have not confirmed one way or the other whether or not this means non Sha weapons from pre 5.2 can now add the socket, but people have tried on the PTR to do this unsuccessfully.
I'm not sure if this means it just wasn't on the PTR for datamining, but hopefully the databases are updated soon so we can import this stuff into WrathCalcs.
Edit: Also, there's two "Ritual Dagger of the Mind's Eye" weapons listed in the Gear List tab, and the one beneath where the heroic weapons begin should be Thunderforged. Made for a very confusing 20 minutes where I tried to figure out why this normal dagger had 500 SP over the normal Torall mace. D:
