Rawr shows different gem choices for Feral Tanking gear with every update, running from all stamina, to all agility and now (with no explanation) +dodge and +defense ametrines.
I'd really like to know if there is any reason why all the switching around, particularly with regards to +defense gems?? That makes no sense.
I did switch to all agility when it said to and saw my HPS lower (obviously) but my threat and armor was so much higher it was in fact a decent switch.
With the +dodge/+defense gem suggestions with the new Rawr... I'm wondering at the change.
You'll sometimes see the dodge/def gems when there is a good socket bonus to take advantage of. I think the reason Def starts to come into play is because it provides avoidance that is never affected by diminishing returns.*
* I'm not 100% sure if that's accurate, but I think the miss rate Def gives isn't ever subject to any sort of DR the way dodge is.
Edit: Also, if you play around with the settings in Rawr (what level content you select in Options), it will change its gemming preference between pure Stam and mitigation/avoidance.
No, the bonus to miss and dodge from defense is subject to diminishing returns, just like the bonus to dodge from agility and dodge rating.
The primary reason why Rawr shifts gems around like that is because you hit the survival cap (which is a setting on the options tab). Once you reach that, stamina and armor are given reduced weighting, and this results in a shift from stamina gemming to agility gemming (and makes the dodge/defense gems more acceptable). It's important is to set the cap to what suits your raid and style of play best, so that the suggested gemmings work for you.

Reason: reversed survival and mitgation
The rules are so strict about this kind of question I'm reluctant to post this but Ive lurked and dug long enough that I'm pretty confident this hasn't been asked and answered. This is not a tell me what Im doing wrong post.
Is there a resource for parsing and analyzing combat logs that is expressly designed to help players uncover weakness' in output? I very much wish to try and discover weakness' in my performance and am simply asking to be pointed in the direction of tools to achieve this. I'm using all of the tools that evaluate my spec and gear (Rawr, Treecalcs, etc)but they seem to fall short when I want to compare my performance on a given boss against one of my peers. Is WorldOfLogs really my best option or is there a better choice?
I've searched around a bit, and can't seem to find anything detailed on meta gems for resto druids. I've been running Insightful for as long as I can remember and I was just curious as to if there's a point where something else is better? I have zero mana issues, and I've never run double solace. I swap between t9 and t10 depending on the fight, and I have even less mana issues (or rather, still none at all) in t10 from the stat gain I get from switching from t9. I rarely even Innervate myself.
Other than Insightful, the other healer-y type meta's I can think of are beaming (21% crit 2% mana), ember skyflare (25 sp 2% intellect), Revitalizing (11 mp5 3% crit healing effect). I really like the revitalizing one, except for only in t9 can my rejuv's crit, and for the most part I'm usually raid healing, so nourish doesn't get a whole lot of love. But it only requires 2 red gems.. instead of a red/blue/yellow. Given I'm going to need a haste gem or two until I pick up some more ICC gear, especially when I grab trauma, if I ever got the option to I could just fully gem spell power?
Any opinions/idea's will be accepted with open arms. (even a "no kali you're bad diaf!")
Is the Feral DPS 4T10 bonus good enough at ilvl 251 that it should be worn in lieu of 264 drops or emblem gear? I have access to 10 and 25m drops, but the upgrade tokens will come very slowly, and I won't be seeing heroic gear.

Reason: Clarification for feral dps set, whoops.

Almost undoubtedly it is worth it (assuming you're talking feral DPS based on your armory). It is a HUGE DPS jump. But you should probably play around with Rawr to see for sure.
Hi I was interested in dropping the 4 points in balance tree to get back to the 14/57 spec and am a about 75 haste points shy of the 856 haste cap to do so. I was hoping someone had done the math to see at what time it would be worth re-gemming haste for sp to do that or are the talents not worth the swicth? Sorry if this has been covered ive looked at sevral pages and could not find anything on it. I am also just learning tree calcs, but if I can avoid the respec and number crunching it would be greatly appreciated.
I hope this is the right place for this, as I'm just a bit curious...
I recently put the nice expensive Berserking enchant on my Distant Land for DPS, thinking I would want the best enchant for something that good. But I've been hearing a bit about Mongoose being possibly better lately, though it seems to be close. I'm a bit curious about this, especially as agi seems to be devalued a bit with how we're softcapping it at the moment. I'm not really sure on how the haste part works, though, or what value that has. Would anyone be able to show me a post discussing Berserking vs Mongoose, and how the value of each one (involving talents/buffs as well) is worked out? I just haven't been able to find one, though I'm sure it's hidden away somewhere.
Edit: Another quick question... When is it worth dropping 4pc T9 245? I keep seeing upgrades in those slots drop (more than the ones I actually need), but I don't think they'll do me any good if I lose the bonuses - correct me if I'm wrong there. Is it worthwhile for 2pc T10 251, or should it be the 264 versions? That bonus doesn't seem particularly good, so it's hard to tell. (I'm also paranoid that as soon as I blow 95 emblems on the legs, they will drop in VoA, which makes it frustrating that the placeholder drops I'm getting are in other slots.)
