I have 3/3 SotF and was wearing about 150 resilience so should have had ~7.5% crit reduction. The only thing I can think of is some sort of weird bug with them also casting the new shaman spell Lava Burst.
I've had this happen when fighting Valkyrion Aspirants in Storm Peaks as well. They cast a buff called Metanoia, which has similar +crit properties. Does anyone have any word of mouth or personal reference from other tanks experiencing this, or just bears?

1.2k seems a bit low there for raid buffed at level 80. I'm only level 75 and I just tested this: with SR up and Mangle on the target, my rake ticked for 1201.

Better than [Idol of the Ravenous Beast]? (I think both Toskk and Rawr are coming up with the shred damage being better than the rip damage at high end gear levels)

I have a quick question, that I can't find any info on. (I've tried searching) What is the value of hit versus other stats, on an EP scale or something, so that I can judge what to gem, and whether or not it would be better to skip certain socket bonuses by gemming hit. Any help would be appreciated, and sorry if it's already listed in a sticky...but I couldn't find info on it.

EDIT: I also think it might be nice to add that [Idol of the Wastes] has a 10 second CD and a 100% proc rate, and may outperform other idols for the moment.

I consider the graphs halfway down on the page: The Druid Wiki » ToskksDPSGearMethod to be quite a reliable resource. It may very well be worth gemming for hit at the moment as everyone I know (of every class infact) seems to be quite hit starved. I suspect this will change drastically in future gear brackets.

I'm just curious if our general "rotation" is going to change or if it is just always going to be mangle-rip-SR.
Shred is always better than Mangle, from zero AP to 2 million AP. However, the abilities of Mangle to build combo point better to allow a 3rd finisher at early gear level (where everyone's crit rate is terrible) makes it better. At end of T7-25 man level gear shred will easily outperform mangle again.

Thank you for the quick reply, And if I'm reading this right with my crit in cat unbuffed (49%) I need 10850 ap before might, roar etc for 1 hit to be > than 1 str?

I had suspected this extra finisher due to mangle was the reason, but the issue that I'm seeing is that, at least in Rawr, Bite damage for the cycle is equal to 0. That means it somehow thinks that Mangle-Rip-SR provides more damage than a Mangle-Shred-Rip-SR cycle (both of which include Rake, of course). This is why I posted. Astrylian's simulations are usually quite accurate it just seem unintuitive to me that using Mangle over Mangle + Shred is somehow more damage, when bite isnt being used at all.

how does your druid have 49% crit unbuffed at 80, care to share the armory? That sounds really scary.

This is definately off, rake ticks 1.7k solo for me (although I have the KT 25 staff). Raid buffed it was around 2.1k IIRC. Keept it up at all times!

Back in the old WotLK Feral Thread there was a discussion about a Tank spec, that could do good damage with Mangle spam. I could never find the talents used for it. Does somebody have a specc for this Tank/Mangle Spam DPS?

Edit: Is there someone who could create the Feral Megathread replacement in the Theorycraft Think Tank? This would be the most obvious replacement for the Megathread starting post.

The fire revenant type mobs from Halls of Lightning cast a buff called Afterburn which increases their crit chance by 50% for 10 sec. They visibly grow in size when they gain the buff, and are surrounded by a vortex of fire while casting so its fairly easy to spot. It can be dispelled like any normal buff, which is why you might find it being noticed more by bears as Warriors tend to remove it quite quickly with Shield Slam without even really noticing.

I replaced some gear since that post, which were bad pieces but loaded with crit, and I'm now down ~1.4% crit and up a lot of ap, but here is my armory.

The World of Warcraft Armory (not in cat form atm, and my staff skill isn't leveled so the crit is wrong)

I overlooked the fact that MS adds 4% to cat crit. However, even with the said buffs (11% from feral tree, 4% from resto), that adds up to roughly 45% crit.

That looks a lot more reasonable, thanks for the posting the armory.
