I was finally able to get past the 5.5k barrier and I'm hoping to work towards the 6k barrier now. As always, if you see anything wrong that I could easily correct it would be greatly appreciated.

I've been recently trying to improve my DPS in preparation for Ulduar and i figured i could Post here to get some feedback on my itemization, spec and rotation. i have a recent WWS report
Wow Web Stats
Here is the most recent link to my Gear chardev.org v6 ~ a World of Warcraft character planner i subbed in alot more haste and im waiting for a new raid to post a WWS report with these substitutions
I would appreciate it if some of you elistsjerks Gurus take a look. armory link is recent.
Just a note. i made some changes to my spec this week for threat reduction because last week i was pulling aggro so i took 2 point in Nature's Reach.
Also i got the Iris Key tonight so i should be getting my neck piece after thursdays Malygos raid.
It will also be almost impossible for me to get BiS Cloth pieces since the raid prioritizes it to locks/mages/priest
so if you are recommending gear i would appreciate it if you could put the best LEATHER piece AS WELL.
im currently working on getting Footsteps of Malygos, Surplus Limb, Signet of manifested pain.
i could probably get a bracer and 2nd ring upgrade as well. maybe even illustration of Dragon soul if i can get more hit from somewhere.

You should have twice your amount of haste.

Ya starting to work towards more haste, for sometime i thought that crit was almost like effective haste with Nature's Grace, so i stacked crit, but now i see that alot of the higher dps boomkins have about 3-5% less crit than me and ~200more haste than me.
On another point, how will the new nature's grace affect itemization in Ulduar ? it would sorta of act as haste, just not reducing GCD.

Almost got to 6k. I'm sitting at ~20% haste unbuffed, which I feel is about 2% higher than I would like (assuming I could trade the crit for haste), particularly seeing that folks approaching 6.5k have 60+ more haste than I currently am running. A Torch and either a EotS or Illustration would help that out some since I would then swap my MH and emblem trinket. I've thought about dropping my KT legs for the Malygos legs, but I don't have a decent third trinket (we've had really bad luck with caster trinket drop rates).

I have noticed that most of the top parses have Percent Casting in the 95-96% range. What I have not seen discussed is how someone improves to get this high. Last night I did a few tests against a target dummy, with no bloodlust and no embrace of the spider, since these are of course estimates in WWS, and consistently hit around 93%. So there are a couple questions here:
1) Are the estimates for bloodlust and embrace inflating the numbers? That is, can people consistently hit 95-96% while doing a typical rotation without these factors?
2) What is causing the discrepancy between most people who know what they are doing (lets say high 80s to low 90s) and the people doing mid 90s?
Casts after SF: I can't imagine people actually losing casting time after this, since you have .3 seconds to queue up a spell before it finishes, which should be plenty of time for most people.
Casts after Wrath, MF, IS, Starfall, FoN: In a raid environment without lust these will typically be under 1.3 seconds, so you will not have the full .3 seconds to queue. If your latency exceeds (cast_time - 1 seconds) or you are casting a spell that takes under 1 second (GCD length spell under bloodlust or wrath during NG), you clearly will have some cast time lost that you can't control. Let's throw out the latency argument, since it's not controllable and there are plenty of people with low ping but not 95-96% casting percentages.
So, the way I see it, there are really only two possibilities:
1) They are better at spamming the button when it matters (after a gcd-length cast).
2) They cast fewer < 1 spells. Perhaps they are proccing lunar eclipse more quickly, so fewer NG wraths and wraths under bloodlust.

WWS
Hi!
I'm pretty new to this Moonkin thingy (I was tanking before, but since there are 7 other tanks and 0 other moonkins I decided to switch). Currently my guild is running Naxx 10 and Naxx 25, the WWS above is from naxx 10, which we cleared for the first time in one day today.
So could you give me some pointers on how to increase dps without going oom? On short fights like patch, etc. I'll do fine but in fights like Saphh and Kel I have mana troubles.
Also I'm not quite sure on the equip:
* Is the T7 4piece bonus worth dropping Mantle of the Eternal Sentinal?
*Is Leggins of the Instructor better than Woven Bracae Leggins?
* Ring of the Fated or Band of Guile
Also not quite sure on the specc, at the moment I have ever skill that somehow gets me mana. I was thinking about dropping the weakest one for Imp Insect Swarm.
EDIT: My curren rota is:
IFF --> IS ---> MF --> Wrath till Eclipse procc --> SF , rinse and repeat
Thanks in advance for the help

You could use Chardev, and I think there's a couple other sandboxes out there to play in that will let you make a gear snapshot.

I've noticed that you still use Intensity and Moonglow with your good gear.
Try to replace these talent points with something better for your dps, like Brambles (for more damage from Treants) or try out Typhoon (remember to use the glyph too!).
Improved Faerie Fire just if you need +3% crit, your hit is capped and anyway shadow priests can help for it thanks to Misery.
With your gear, I don't think you need mana regen talents (or do you do speed run usually? :p )
Put 2 points on Improved Moonfire and just 1 on Moonglow, probably you will just receive an improvement on your dps (moonfire crits can proc Nature's Grace)

Get a scorch mage and have your raid kill him in under 2:30 so that heroism is a greater proportion of the DPS time. Seriously, you've lost ~10% DPS with that missing crit buff.

Recent WWS 5486 dps
I'm kind of at an impasse as to what to do with my gear and spec right now. The above was a really good parse for me, but I feel like I should be able to do more. Originally I was planning to go for the leggings of mortal arrogance to shed some hit, but I ended up getting the leggings of the wanton spell caster instead. I swapped my belt of potent chanting for shackled cinch, but I'm still a bit over. I'm looking for any tips to optimize my gear and dps.

Last weeks wws put me at 5408. Better then the last time I posted a wws, but i think its mainly because the raids dps went up a bit. 7-8 items still not BiS, 10%ish unbuffed haste meh.

I just wanted to thank everyone in this thread for their posts, stats and insights into the boomkin. For a long time my guild has believed that boomkins are capped at around 3.3k dps and I haven't done much to dissuade them from that belief as I've been healing for months now.
After reading this thread over the last couple of days I decided to see what gear I had availabale and really see if I could put in some real numbers.
5,548 dps, 3 drake 10 man burn attempt.
This isn't the best fight to do WWS on, but it's the first fight since I read this thread and respec'd. All of my 4.5k+ attempts there was little to no movement required (lucky firewalls, no voids etc).
I had a later attempt that peaked at around 5.8k that I'm pretty happy with as well. You'll notice no starfall because I'm an idiot and screwed up the spec I was shooting for and ran out of points :p That probably would have helped boost me even higher with the starfall procs.
Since the patch went live and armory is down, I'll edit this patch with my gear later. I'm sitting around 465 haste and 250 hit right now, spellpower is just a bit over 1900 unbuffed not in moonkin form.
I completely screwed up my rotation on a bunch of the fights, I'd find myself spamming wrath for no reason :p
Anyway, thanks and any comments you've got, I'd love to hear.

With 3.1 now hitting live, I'd like to request a little more order to the way we're doing things here. As of now, most people are posting only Patchwerk parses and, while that's a really good benchmarking fight (at least as far as telling time-on-target, if not true DPS numbers), it's now obsolete. Now, I'm not incredibly familiar with Ulduar fights yet, since I didn't get onto the PTR, so I'm not sure if we'll have a similar squat-and-shot fight like Patch to gauge.
So I think it's in everyone's best interests to get parses of as many bosses as possible here. If people are feeling generous, an index on the post as to boss and DPS would also be nice, though since that's provided by WWS it's probably not necessary. The more important thing I'd like to see with each post is a snapshot of gear and Glyphs that resulted in the parse. Unfortunately, neither Warcrafter.net nor Chardev.org support glyphs innately, so they'd need to be listed in the post. These should, however, provide more permanent notation as to gearing and talents, especially given the advent of Dual Spec, which makes looking up a person's armory less likely to give the same parameters that a person entered the fight with.

Yogg-Saron easy mode kill. 5511.4 dps. This is a World of Logs report.
Add: Link to WWS parse of same fight.
I finished top damage ahead of the shadow priests (which are favored in this fight by mechanics). Oh, and I got a few decurses off, too.
Glyphs:
Starfall
MF
IS
Gear:
Thermomenes <Midnight> Suramar
All BiS T7 except for 2nd trinket.
Talents:
Typical core.
No IFF
2 pt Owlkin Frenzy
1 pt Moonglow
3 pt Intensity
I decided to respec on the 3rd night of attempts to include mana regen talents because I was ending up oom at the start of the 3rd phase. This is a ~15 minute encounter. My mana was fine after I included the correct talents.
P.S. This log was recorded by Rootbear, our cat/bear druid. He and the melee were taking portals to the brain room while casters stayed above. If his log only recorded what he saw, this log should favor melee dps if it was not sync'd with the raid. No Battle Resurrections were used. No mobs were running free. Positioning was tested and perfected many times prior to the death. The winning pull was made with near flawless execution by the raid.

Well, for my own part I feel like being very selective for a little while yet, there is too much random shit thats going on during the learning phase of ulduar (mainly this week) for wws to say very much imo.
Like having to run around trying to find some fucker to combatrezz, unfamiliarity with good positioning, random interrupts due to loose adds(or similar) etc.
That said, as long as we only post fights where the amount of random shit was very low, I do see a use for it, its just that we should make that abundantly clear.
And for those not wanting to use the gear-sites, can you list "spellpower(in moonkin form), crit, hit, haste" instead of "all bis minus X items".
