Well, the first answer is obvious, she's in full Healing T8, and has 658 MP5.

Usually when people are geared and aren't pulling their weight as a Boomkin, it can be because the fact that they aren't using an addon to track the ICD of eclipse. Tell her to setup SquawkAndAwe to track Eclipse, and use the default rotation. Boomkin is a pretty easy spec to play.

Here i got a log of my last Ignis kill. 2 small points of notice on this fight. I started to soon with dpsing and had to hold back for a good couple of seconds at the beginning of the fight or i would have had agro. Also i got thrown in to the Slag pot only once.

Wasn't the only lucky guy. This was our first Hardmode Hodir kill ever and we did it in 2.41

If you all could take a look at these logs and help me figure out what im not doing right. I have pretty descent gear, and stats, but i cannot seem to get the DPS that you others seem to be able to achieve. i use SquawkAndAwe to track my eclipse. i understand issues with moving fight, but i should be able to do better on the stand stills.

Moojoe, three things I noticed on your armory / Iron Council fight. These are all mentioned in the beginner's guide to Moonkin thread, but in your particular case:

1) You'll want to regem/regear to reach the hit cap (263).
2) You're not casting Force of Nature or Starfall. You should be using them when they're up and you're not under eclipse.
3) It looks like you're casting too many Wraths relative to Starfires. With so much haste gear, you should be using a Lunar cycle instead of a Solar cycle. Use Wrath only to proc eclipse, and use Starfire when it's on cooldown.

Outside of the above Moojoe - are you using an addon to keep track of Eclipse? You're using Wrath 5+ seconds after proccing the Eclipse effect. The only time this will ever be worthwhile if like Stormcaller's starting an Overload and you only have time for a 1.x second cast.

I've been improving quite a bit in the past couple of weeks but I've kind of hit the wall. I don't know what to change so maybe you guys can tear down my numbers. Here's my most recent try on razorscale:

Please note: I had the hit rating buff from midsummer food which me put within a % of the cap, and I use quartz to keep track of latency and Eclipse cooldown. Also I can't use the insect swarm glyph as the raid needs the debuff on the boss.

I have done those suggested things, even specced into typhoon for the extra instant cast damage. while the numbers are up slightly, and i actually added some new gear. I still am not able to generate numbers like those i have seen from like geared people. here is last nights logs

Just looking at your Deconstructor kill - World of Logs - Real Time Raid Analysis However every boss I looked at you're running into the same problems.

You're still not using your cooldowns, Starfall/FoN are huge damage increases.
Your IS/MF uptime is pretty bad too.
You also Tranquility'd - while yes this might save some raiders and is entirely worthwhile to do situationally, as DPS you have to learn to trust healers to a degree for progress sake, in a raid everyone has to be able to perform their role.

Personally I would reccommend poping Treants during the first heart phase right before Heroism and again off cooldown. Starfall on the first set of adds or on the Heart if you're raid is competent at AoE and again off cooldown. These spells are your best DPS spells you have available, hence the cooldowns. Work on keeping as close to 100% DoT uptime as possible and trust your healers to do their job.

Also you're doing Life Spark's so your DPS will suffer. I'm one of the people not doing them, since our Warlocks/Mages can basically global a spark.


Edit: Also on the following post, if you can line up your DoT refresh right after Eclipse ends and during the ICD, pop starfall right after and go into your spamming SF for maximized NG effect. Of course, this doesn't mean waiting 20sec after the CD is up to do. I basically pop Starfall off cd no matter what since most hard modes have quite a bit of movement for your instants.

On that note as well, the only time I pull my FoN cd is if I know Heroism/Bloodlust is coming soon and I won't be able to squeeze in another.

All of the things poromu pointed out are a good start. Here is one of our kills and my DPS. I am also on sparks so it is hard to get real good numbers. but 5.5k is not too shabby. Notice how much damage adding Starfall is doing, managing to use it on CD will be a big help not only in damage, but it while it is active, you can pretty much assume NG will be up as well.

One of the rare fights that I use 4 parts t8 for the proc since I find myself moving alot due to fires being kited towards me.

Curious though, you did well doing a Lunar rotation, what made you choose that over Solar since Solar is generally more movement friendly?

Also did you reglyph or anything? When I was Moonkin for our attempts I found that if I had glyphed Starfall I would've had 2 cd's per phase instead of one.

Not entirely certain on time in phases since I got stuck going Resto for all our good attempts and our kill.

I didn't change anything aside from using the 4 part bonus. Keeping IS up as the highest priority when proccing eclipse aswell of course to get the insta starfires. Using starfall at key moments aswell. Like at flame suppression in phase 1 and then when moving around from the bombs/spinning in phase 2. Phase 3 I kept it till the head was down as tanking was pretty tight for us with the adds spawning everywhere so I just saved it for when we were nuking them down inbetween p4. Can't recall if I did or not, but should have popped it in p4 as soon as it was up and then hope the phase lasted long enough to get another one in when they were going to die.

In phase 2 we cheesed it with splitting ranged into 3 groups and having 3 holy priests per group spamming holy nova with the glyph. This mean't unless we had rockets or fires coming towards us we didn't need to move a lot. Also with spinning up we ran counter clockwise to keep nuking. We usually ended up with 6 people in 1/3 at a time so the 6ht person not in the priests party was usually a healer keeping him/herself up.

I'll log out in my alternate moonkin gear that has the 4 parts and some random haste bits if you'd like. Its not really an amazing set considering bosses seem to hate me

I died towards the very end but overall it was not too bad. I used lunar most of the fight, although I did not worry if I procd a Solar and even did proc solar at some points in p2.

I have been a moonkin since bc and believe that I have been quite successful at it. In terms in Insect swarm I have had my dps higher conistantly without using it unless on the move or have the new 4set tier bonus.

but another thing has come to my attention and I have been looking it up with no success. Owlkin frenzy is a huge self buff if it procs, however I have failed to find out exactly what kind of damage may proc it during a raid. this has come to mind simply because dps takes an increasingly larger amount of damage the further you go in raids.

Alright folks... I am getting pretty down frustrated. I have been reading the forums here and the Moonkin Beginners guide and I am still lost. I keep coming in last during raids after the other boomkin in my guild and I can't figure out why. My rotation is IFF, IS, MF, Wrath till Eclipse then Starfire... once the actual Eclipse is over and is on CD I continue Starfires while tring to refresh my IS and MF.

Can you please look at these WWS and tell me what is going on and how I might improve... also if it is a gear issue or talent issue please.
